CATDOLL: How to raise crucian carp at home

1. How to raise crucian carp at home

Just take a bucket and put some water in it. If the fish is too big, use a basin or bathtub. But be careful that the crucian carp may jump out by itself. If you use a basin, it is better to add a pot lid.

After being raised for a period of time, the color of the crucian carp (if it is wild) will change from black to gray, and it will become thinner. When you eat it, the meat will not be as tight as before, so it is better to eat it as soon as possible:)

2. Are the released large crucian carps farmed?

For a long time after being released, it will not move much. These fish are usually dull and cannot figure out the direction. They will only wander around the small area where they were released and will not leave for a long time. This is a habit of them.

So, release these fish.

1. It is not recommended to place it on the shore, especially when you have a large quantity.

2. If you don’t have a boat, it is not recommended to leave it near a crowded shore, as it is easy to arouse the greed of others and lead to prey.

3. The best way is to rent a boat to disperse the fish to the center of rivers and lakes. In this way, at least the obvious arrest rate will be reduced a lot.

4. It is not recommended to release fish at a fixed time and at a fixed location. Sometimes when I go to release fish, I see people holding simple fishing nets on the shore waiting for you to release them and then catch them. It is scary to think about large-scale releases. This is obvious. In some places where you release fish regularly, they use ground cages, which ordinary people cannot see at all (you need to see if there are some buoys on the water surface). So although you don’t see anyone holding a fishing net, there are actually greater dangers waiting underwater.

a Try to find a place with few people and avoid attracting attention.

b In this society, it is not easy to release animals, because of pollution and human nature. You need to find good, suitable waters, places with few people. So it is not enough to just be kind, you also need to be attentive, wise, and not afraid of hard work. Although it is a bit difficult, for the sake of the poor animals, you should face the challenge, because your intentions may be their only hope of being saved!

3. Crucian carp breeding method

1. Correctly distinguish the quality of fish species

When purchasing crucian carp fingerlings, farmers should correctly distinguish the quality of fish fingerlings based on the biological characteristics of the main crucian carp breeding varieties to avoid being deceived.

2. Design a good stocking density for fish

In order to reduce breeding costs, it is best to breed large-sized fish yourself.

By breeding crucian carp fingerlings in ponds and stocking 8,000 to 12,000 crucian carps per acre, the goal of growing them to a size of 50 to 60 grams can be achieved.

When raising adult crucian carp, when the average size of the fish is 50-60 grams, it is ideal to stock 1500-1800 crucian carp per acre, and the size of the commercial fish can reach 350-400 grams.

3. Determine the matching varieties

When breeding large-sized crucian carp, do not mix them with grass carp and carp. Instead, choose silver carp and bighead carp. The number should account for about 20% of the main crucian carp, and bighead carp should account for about 10% of the silver carp. The stocking time of the mixed species should not be too early, especially the early introduction of bighead carp will have a greater impact on the domestication of crucian carp.

4. Fish domestication

Crucian carp is a fish that lives in the middle and lower layers of water bodies. For fish ponds that mainly raise crucian carp, the fish species must be domesticated to reduce feed costs and increase benefits. It is relatively easy to domesticate crucian carp in the fish seedling stage. The domesticated fish species have a short time to float up to grab food during adult fish breeding, which is easy to manage. Adding an appropriate amount of additives to the feed during domestication can shorten the domestication time and increase the feeding area and number of crucian carp. The density is large and the group size is large, which is easy to domesticate. On the contrary, the domestication time is long and the percentage of floating up to grab food is low. When the density has been determined and cannot be changed, the water level of the pond can be lowered and the density can be relatively increased, which is not only conducive to domestication, but also can increase the water temperature of the pond and promote fish growth. Silver carp and bighead carp species should be put in after the main crucian carp has formed the habit of not floating up to grab food. The water quality during the domestication period should be "thin" rather than "turbid and fat".

5. Feed Particle Size and Feeding Rate

The selection standard of crucian carp feed particle size should be "small rather than large". Generally, when the crucian carp size is less than 10 grams per tail, the feed particle size should be 0.50 mm; when it is 10-30 grams per tail, choose 1 mm; when it is 30-75 grams per tail, choose 1.50 mm; when it is 75-100 grams per tail, choose 2 mm; when it is 150-300 grams per tail, choose 2.40 mm; when it is more than 300 grams per tail, choose 3.20 mm.

The feeding capacity of fish is directly affected by the size of the fish and the water temperature of the pond, so the feeding rate should be adjusted according to the actual situation and should not remain unchanged.

6. Fish disease prevention and control

Crucian carp has strong disease resistance, but in recent years, hemorrhagic anchorfish disease has been discovered in crucian carp. Although the incidence of this disease is not high, once it is infected and allowed to develop, it will cause a large number of crucian carp deaths. The main symptoms of severely ill crucian carp are: floating in the water (fatigue), pale color, and needle-shaped worms can be seen parasitizing on the abdomen and both sides of the back (fine scales) of the fish body. There are mung bean or pea-sized congested erythema at the site of the worm, the scales at the lesion site are loose or fall off, the mucus increases, and a few form obvious ulcers. The pathogen is carp anchorfish.

Causes of the disease: First, the pond is not cleaned thoroughly or not at all, allowing pathogens to breed; second, the fish species with damaged body surfaces (or fish body surfaces injured due to careless production operations) are put in, creating opportunities for pathogens to parasitize.

Prevention: Spray 2.50% trichlorfon powder throughout the pond 1-2 days before stocking crucian carp. For small-scale main breeding ponds, spray 90% crystal trichlorfon 0.30g/m3 every half month during the disease season; for large-scale mixed breeding ponds, use trichlorfon baskets (bags) during the growth season of crucian carp, 1-2 times a month, and hang for 2 consecutive days each time.

Treatment: When signs of disease appear during breeding, timely observation and inspection should be carried out. After confirmation, 0.50 g/m3 of 90% crystal trichlorfon and 0.20 g/m3 of ferrous sulfate mixture can be sprayed all over the pond at once. For secondary anchor fish disease (or ponds that have been treated with trichlorfon many times), agricultural dichlorvos can be used instead, and the dosage is 6-10 ml per mu of water depth of 1 meter.

4. Tips for raising crucian carp

The techniques for raising crucian carp are as follows:

1. Stocking density

For pond breeding of crucian carp fingerlings, 8,000 to 12,000 crucian carp are placed per mu, and the size is 50 to 60 grams. 2. For pond breeding of adult crucian carp, 1,500 to 1,800 crucian carp fingerlings are placed per mu, with an average size of 50 to 60 grams per tail, and the size is 350 to 400 grams. Of course, the amount can be increased or decreased according to the size of the pond, management conditions and the size of the fish.

(II) Variety Matching

The proportion of silver carp and bighead carp should account for about 10% of the raised crucian carp. The stocking time of silver carp and bighead carp will affect the domestication time of crucian carp. Putting them in too early, especially bighead carp, will affect the domestication of crucian carp.

It is forbidden to pair it with carp, grass carp and other bold fish that float to the surface for a short time and are fierce in snatching food. In addition to affecting the domestication of crucian carp, it will also affect the crucian carp's feeding throughout the year.

(III) Domestication

Adding an appropriate amount of attractants to the feed can shorten the acclimation time and increase the feeding area and amount of crucian carp.

Pairing it with bream, which has a similar caliber and feeding speed to crucian carp, can increase the success rate of domestication and shorten the domestication time.

The density is large and the group size is large, which makes it easy to domesticate. On the contrary, the domestication time is long and the percentage of floating up to grab food is low. When the density is determined, the water level can be lowered to increase the density relatively, which is conducive to domestication, and it can also increase the water temperature and promote growth.

The best time to release silver carp and bighead carp is after the main cultured crucian carp develops the habit of floating up to grab food.

(IV) Growth rate

Variety differences. Currently, the main types of crucian carp cultured are silver carp, Pengze carp, and engineering carp (Xiangyun carp). Practice shows that engineering carp grows the fastest, followed by silver carp, and finally Pengze carp. However, Pengze carp is better in appearance than other varieties, and Pengze carp is still the main export variety.

Growth rate throughout the year. The growth rate of crucian carp is different in different months. Theoretically, the best growth period should be from July to August, but in reality it is not. The best growth temperature for crucian carp is 25-29℃. There is often a high temperature period in July and August when the water temperature exceeds 30℃, which is when the water body load is large, so the growth is not as good as in September to early October.
