The price of wild mandarin fish in rural rivers has soared. Why is it so difficult to eat this wild mandarin fish now?

Because I grew up by the sea, I generally don’t like freshwater fish. I learned the name of mandarin fish from the Chinese textbook, which is “peach blossoms and flowing water, fat mandarin fish”. Later, when I attended a high-level wedding banquet, I often saw [steamed mandarin fish] and [squirrel mandarin fish], and then I began to gradually understand this fish. The price of mandarin fish here has always been similar to that of more expensive marine fish. And it usually appears at banquets, and it feels like a more face-saving dish.

Most of the mandarin fish sold in the market now are probably farmed, and the price is around 20-30 yuan per catty. I once found a so-called wild "mandarin fish", which is the famous "three flowers and five Luo" in Heilongjiang, for sale at 160 yuan per catty. This should be the most expensive freshwater fish I have ever seen!

Why is the price of mandarin fish so high now? It is hard to eat it now. First, the market demand is large. As a high-end freshwater fish, mandarin fish is particularly popular at many banquets, and it can be used to cook many "popular" famous dishes. Mandarin fish is very delicious among freshwater fish. Its meat is delicate, without fine bones, and without the earthy smell of freshwater fish, so it is very popular. Second, there are not many waters suitable for the growth of mandarin fish. Mandarin fish prefers to breathe in clean running water, and has high requirements for the cleanliness of water quality. Now the waters suitable for the survival of mandarin fish are gradually decreasing. Mandarin fish is a relatively ferocious carnivorous fish. Because its food is also decreasing in the wild, the output of mandarin fish is also decreasing. Third, people pursue healthy and original ecological ingredients. I don’t know when it started. As long as it is named wild, the price of this ingredient will rise. As a famous freshwater fish species, mandarin fish is naturally expensive with the word "wild". Generally, people who catch wild mandarin fish will choose to sell them, and few will be willing to enjoy them themselves. It is naturally difficult to eat in rural areas. Fourth, how to distinguish wild mandarin fish from farmed mandarin fish? Look at the pattern on the fish body. The pattern of wild mandarin fish is particularly deep, while the pattern of farmed mandarin fish is relatively shallow.

The poisonous spines on the back of wild mandarin fish will cause numbness and itching when you prick your hand, and farmed mandarin fish are not as good. Wild mandarin fish are rarely sold alive in the market, because it is difficult for this fish to survive after being caught and injured. It eats too much and swallows everything, so it is easy to hurt it when you remove the hook. In fact, many delicacies have disappeared in rural areas now, not just mandarin fish. In the past, the small river shrimps, loaches, crucian carp seeds, etc. that filled the puddles in the summer are basically gone now!

Because the water quality in the river is not very good now, the number of wild mandarin fish has decreased.

Because the water in rural rivers is polluted, the growth of wild mandarin fish has been affected and the number has decreased a lot, so it is very difficult to eat wild mandarin fish now.

As people hunt in large numbers, the reproduction of wild mandarin fish cannot keep up with the hunting of people, and the environment is getting worse and worse. The water quality that meets the production conditions of wild mandarin fish is getting less and less, and it is difficult to breed it artificially, so it is becoming less and less.

What are the differences between wild and farmed mandarin fish? Is there a big difference in price?

Wild mandarin fish from the Yangtze River are no longer available for consumption because of the 10-year fishing ban. Mandarin fish on the market are now farmed and the price is 40-70 yuan per catty, which is more than four times higher than the price of the "four major carps". For ordinary consumers, it is a "luxury product" and they can only enjoy it with their eyes, except during festivals. Mandarin fish is expensive because of its cost. Mandarin fish do not eat artificial feed, but live fish fry, and will not eat dead fish. I was born by the Yangtze River and was fortunate to have eaten mandarin fish twice. Mandarin fish is not more valuable as it gets bigger, but it is most valuable when it is about one catty. When it gets bigger, no one can afford it, so it can only be sold at a lower price. Wild mandarin fish resources are also close to being exhausted, so the price has been strong and will not fluctuate greatly.

Mandarin fish farming must have clean and sanitary water sources and wide waters. One mu of mandarin fish farming pond must be equipped with 2 mu of bait fish pond. Mandarin fish has high requirements for water quality. The water must circulate and flow, and the rotten matter at the bottom of the pond must be cleaned up in time. Mandarin fish is a ferocious animal in the Yangtze River. It is at the top of the food chain and feeds on small fish and shrimp. I bought mandarin fish twice. After caesarean section, there were fish and shrimp in its digestive tract. The current survival rate of artificial breeding is only 70%, and the domestication rate of artificial domestication and feeding is only 50%. About half of the mandarin fish must be fed with fish and shrimp. Mandarin fish farming has high requirements for water quality. 5 aerators with a capacity of 1.5 kilowatts per hour are installed in a 10-mu breeding pond. The water transparency is 40cm, the pH value is 4-8, and the dissolved oxygen content is 4 mg/L.

(1) Before releasing mandarin fish fry, the pond must be cleaned and dried three months in advance, and the entire pond must be disinfected and sterilized with 300 kg of quicklime per mu;

(2) Install the aerator and fill the pond with water. When the water temperature reaches 18 degrees Celsius, release 15 million silver carp fry, 5-8 cm in size, and 2,000-5,000 mandarin fish fry. Silver carp and bighead carp are used as bait.

(3) 15 million dace fry should be released per mu of bait pond. The release can be phased in. If it is found that there are not enough fry in the bait pond, dace fry should be released in time.

(4) Check the water quality of the breeding pond and the feeding activities of mandarin fish every day, salvage dead fish and shrimp, add oxygen in time, and catch silver carp from the bait pond for feeding.

When breeding mandarin fish, we must inspect the pond every day, change the water and increase oxygen. The density of artificial breeding is high, and the water in the breeding pond should be allowed to circulate. The "killer" of mandarin fish is virus infection. We must regularly consume and sterilize the breeding pond to improve the water quality. Virus infection will cause mandarin fish breeding to be "annihilated". In breeding management, we must be cautious and strive for excellence, and do the management work to the extreme. We cannot have a fluke mentality or slackness. The cost of breeding mandarin fish is about 20 yuan per fish. Mandarin fish fry are released in April every year, and they are caught and put on the market after September. Most of the mandarin fish are sold to the catering industry, and the market is also after September.

(1) During the mandarin fish breeding process, sufficient bait fish fry must be prepared. From June to the end of July, 15 million silver carp and bighead carp fry can be released per mu into the mandarin fish breeding ponds. 15 million dace fry should also be released per mu into the bait breeding ponds. The mandarin fish must not be left hungry.

(2) Spray the entire pond with quicklime water once a month for disinfection. As the mandarin fish grows, its oxygen consumption increases. From June to August, turn on the aerator every morning to increase oxygen for 4 to 6 hours. If the pond bottom is flooded, change the water immediately to increase oxygen;

(3) When farming mandarin fish, we must not take shortcuts or be reluctant to spend money. Some farmers once wanted to use feed instead of live fish and shrimp, and they started by releasing fish fry to tame the fish and feed them. However, the taming rate was only less than 50%, so they had to give up farming with feed. Mandarin fish do not eat artificial feed and most of them sink to the bottom, which deteriorates the water quality.

(4) Mandarin fish also have the habit of cannibalizing each other, so the fry must be fed in sufficient quantities. The fry can be caught and fed immediately in the bait pond. Mandarin fish will not eat dead fish or shrimp, so the bait must be fresh.

(5) It is necessary to ensure that there is sufficient bait fish fry in the bait pond. The bait fish should be small miscellaneous fish that cannot grow up. The most suitable choice is wheat dace. Flower lotus and white lotus can only be put into the pond where mandarin fish are raised for consumption. At the same time, they can also act as "scavengers" to clean up the pond plankton and microorganisms and purify the water quality.

Mandarin fish weighing about one pound are the most popular in the market, and the price is also high. When the mandarin fish grows to about one pound, it must be caught and sold on the market. The "expensive" mandarin fish is expensive because of the high breeding cost, the difficulty in mastering the technology, and the high risk. Many farms dare not invest in breeding. The output value of mandarin fish per mu is about 120,000 yuan, and the net income is about 20,000 yuan. Mandarin fish breeding technology must be improved, and efforts must be made in the domestication and feeding of artificial feed to reduce the cost so that ordinary people can afford it and return to the "people-friendly price". Mandarin fish has not been artificially bred for a long time, and mandarin fish is very wild. Artificial breeding must continue to summarize and improve the technology. Breeding is risky, and investment must be cautious.

The wild ones taste more delicious, are larger in size, have higher nutritional value, are more popular with the public, and the price difference is also quite large!

The size is different. The wild ones are smaller, but the price is more expensive than the farmed ones. Maybe they have higher nutritional value.

Wild ones have higher nutritional value, contain more nutrients such as protein, and are guaranteed to grow naturally. Artificial ones may be adulterated with hormones and other substances, which leads to a relatively large price difference between the two.

First, because farmed mandarin fish has more food, wild mandarin fish has lower fat content, firmer meat and more delicious taste than farmed mandarin fish. Secondly, wild mandarin fish is smaller than farmed mandarin fish. Finally, the yield of wild mandarin fish is lower than that of farmed mandarin fish. Farmed mandarin fish has higher yield, secondly, its taste is not as good as wild mandarin fish, and finally its nutritional value is not as good as wild mandarin fish, so its price is lower than that of wild mandarin fish.
