CATDOLL: What is the ideal temperature for hairy crabs to live in? At what temperature will they die of heatstroke?

1. What temperature is suitable for hairy crabs to live in? At what temperature will they be killed by heat?

When the water temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, hairy crabs will stop eating; when the water temperature reaches 10 degrees Celsius, hairy crabs start eating; when the water temperature reaches 15 degrees Celsius, hairy crabs begin to molt and grow.

But if you want the hairy crabs to maintain a fast growth state, it is best to control the water temperature at 20-28 degrees Celsius, which is the best growth temperature for hairy crabs. Hairy crabs can grow quickly at this temperature. If the temperature is too high, it will become boiled hairy crabs, and they will die like boiling frogs in warm water.

The hairy crab is a cold-blooded animal, and its body temperature changes with the change of water temperature. The change of water temperature directly affects the predation, growth and metamorphosis of the hairy crab. When the water temperature is above 6 degrees Celsius, it will start to forage, and above 15 degrees Celsius, it will start to molt and grow. 24 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius is the best water temperature for growth. When the water temperature exceeds 32 degrees Celsius for a long time, it is easy to mature early. Within the suitable temperature range, the hairy crab predates vigorously and grows fast when the temperature is high. They are afraid of heat but not cold. If the water temperature is higher than 32 degrees Celsius, the molting of the hairy crab will be inhibited. But in winter, the hairy crab stops eating and hides in caves to hibernate.

The best temperature for hairy crabs is between 18 and 25 degrees. If the temperature is higher than 28 to 30 degrees, they will be easily killed by the heat.

2. How many days can hairy crabs be kept? Attached is the method of preserving hairy crabs

How long you can keep the hairy crabs depends on the breeding method. If you keep the hairy crabs in a room temperature environment below 25℃, you can keep them for about 5-7 days, but if you use a refrigerator to keep them, you can usually keep them for about 2-3 days. For example, if you keep hairy crabs at room temperature, first put them in clean water for 5 minutes, then put them in a clean basin and sprinkle some water regularly to ensure that the environment is moist.

1. How many days can hairy crabs be kept?

1. Raise for a few days

(1) How long you can keep the newly bought hairy crabs depends on the breeding method. For example, if they are raised at room temperature (below 25°C), they can generally be kept for about 5-7 days. If they are refrigerated in a refrigerator, they can generally be kept for about 2-3 days.

(2) However, it is better to eat the hairy crabs as soon as possible after you buy them, because after the hairy crabs die, bacteria will grow and multiply rapidly, thus reducing the quality of the hairy crabs and making it impossible to ensure their safety for consumption.

2. Methods

(1) Keep at room temperature: Place the hairy crabs in clean water for 5 minutes, then prepare a spacious and clean basin, move the hairy crabs that have drunk enough water there and sprinkle some water on them regularly to ensure a moist environment. Please note that if the hairy crabs have been dead for more than 2 hours at room temperature, it is not recommended to eat them.

(2) Refrigerator preservation: Place the purchased hairy crabs in clean water for 5 minutes, then pick them up, tie them up with a rope and put them in the refrigerator's fresh-keeping layer. Then use a clean towel (which has absorbed water and is in a semi-dry state) to cover the hairy crabs to replenish water. The temperature should be adjusted to around 5°C.

2. How to preserve hairy crabs

1. Use plastic buckets

(1) Prepare a plastic bucket 30-50 cm high with a smooth inner wall. Place the hairy crab in it and add water to half the height of the crab's body.

(2) Be careful not to add too much water to prevent the hairy crabs from dying from lack of oxygen.

2. Use the bathtub

(1) Place the hairy crabs in a bathtub for temporary storage. There should be an appropriate amount of water in the bathtub and a small amount of small fish and shrimps should be fed to prolong the survival time of the hairy crabs.

(2) Please note that the condition of hairy crabs needs to be checked every day, and those that are not energetic enough need to be eaten in time.

3. How to raise crabs How to raise crabs

1. You can put the crabs in a deeper basin. If there are too many crabs and one basin cannot hold them all, you can raise them separately. In order to prevent the crabs from escaping, it is best to cover the basin with a layer of gauze.

2. Put clean water in the basin. The depth of the water should not exceed that of the crab, so that its head can be exposed when it stands up. Otherwise, it will not be able to absorb oxygen and have difficulty breathing. However, the crab's shell should be submerged.

3. If you are worried that the crabs will escape if you keep them in pots, you can use plastic buckets. In the same way as in pots, do not put too much water in it and choose a bucket with a smoother inner wall.

4. Place the crab bucket in a ventilated and cool place. The temperature should be around 15 degrees. If you want to eat it after one or two days, you don’t need to feed it. Just use clean water.

5. If you want to raise the crabs for a longer period of time and prevent them from getting thin, you can feed them some small shrimps or small fish, and it would be best if you add some weeds.

6. If the crabs you want to raise are river crabs, you can just use clean water. If they are sea crabs, you need to put some salt in the water to make the water salty, closer to its growth environment.
