CATDOLL: Marine shrimp farming (technical points and main methods and steps of marine shrimp farming)

Abstract: [ Marine shrimp farming ]

Sea shrimp, also known as big red shrimp or red shrimp, is the general name for the meat or whole body of marine shrimp. Sea shrimp farming is a form of aquaculture , mainly focusing on the release of shrimps with economic value. This article introduces the key points, methods and steps of sea shrimp farming technology.

1. Pond disinfection

1. Desilting. Desilting should be done in winter after the shrimps are harvested and the pond is dry. Special attention should be paid to the four corners of the pond. It is best to plow the pond bottom if conditions permit. This is especially important for shrimp ponds with thick mud on the bottom.

2. Sun-drying the pond. Sun-drying the pond is usually done in rainless weather after the shrimps are harvested in winter. The pond bottom should be exposed to the sun until it cracks and turns white.

3. Toxic ponds. Generally, 300 kilograms of lime are placed per mu in muddy ponds. If it is used in several places, it should be evenly spread all over the pond when the pond has just been drained and the bottom is still wet. If it is used wet, add about 10 centimeters of water to the pond, dissolve the lime on the boat, and pour it all over the pond.

2. Water Quality Improvement

1. Water intake: Before water is taken into the disinfected shrimp pond, check the filter screen to prevent copepods and small crustaceans carrying bacteria and viruses from entering the shrimp pond, which increases the chance of shrimp being infected with viruses.

2. Fertilize the water. Fertilize the water to cultivate basic bait organisms. The method is: mix urea and superphosphate, with 5-15 grams of urea per cubic meter of water and 1.5-4 grams of superphosphate per cubic meter of water.

3. Water disinfection: To prevent the occurrence of diseases, the shrimp pond should be disinfected with chlorine dioxide 10-15 days before stocking, with a concentration of 0.05-0.08 ppm.

5. Install an aerator. The aerator is the main equipment for intensive shrimp farming today. The aerator can save fish and shrimp, remove waste gas, save feed, increase production, and prevent diseases.

3. Put in shrimp seedlings

1. Shrimp fry quality identification

The quality of shrimp fry is the key to the success of shrimp farming. The simplest and most direct way to judge whether the shrimp fry are healthy is to take shrimp fry from different water layers and observe whether there are any deformed, dead or weak individuals.

If this phenomenon occurs, it means that the shrimp fry in the pond are diseased or sick. If you purchase such shrimp fry, it may lead to complete failure of breeding and greatly affect the survival rate.

2. Purchase of shrimp fry

① Dilute

The salinity of seawater in the nursery is about 28‰, while the salinity of shrimp ponds in breeding farms is often lower than that of seawater in the nursery. Therefore, the shrimp fry must be desalinated. Generally speaking, the salinity of the breeding pond should not be lower than 5‰ of that in the nursery pond.

②Count

In order to ensure the number of shrimp fry, the purchase of shrimp fry should not be estimated, but should be counted tail by tail. When counting, a certain proportion can be drawn for counting. If the number of shrimp fry is estimated, the buyer will often suffer a great loss.

③ Transportation

When buying seedlings, try to buy them as close as possible and from reputable units or individuals, because buying them nearby will facilitate transportation and greatly reduce the risks brought by transportation.

④ Seedling density

Different breeding objects require different stocking densities. For example, for breeding tiger prawns, with an aerator, it is appropriate to stock 800-10,000 prawns per mu at a water depth of 1 meter.

⑤ Seedling planting time

The stocking time varies for different aquaculture species. For example, for Penaeus monodon, the water temperature should be kept above 24℃ when stocking.

⑥ Seedling planting method

When stocking the shrimp, it should be on the leeward side, that is, the wind blows from the back, to prevent the shrimp from being blown to the shore. After the shrimp are transported to the shrimp pond, the packaging bag should be soaked in water for 30 minutes to make the water temperature in the bag close to that of the pond.

When releasing the shrimp fry, let water flow slowly into the bag, then slowly lift the bottom of the bag to allow the shrimp fry to swim out slowly.
