Koi (Details) We all feel helpless when it comes to raising many young animals, plants, and fish. Today we are talking about young koi. In fact, there is no difference between raising small koi and large koi, except that small koi have weaker resistance, so we need to pay more attention to their diet and water quality. 1. Maintain water quality Koi fish do not require high water quality. The six koi fish I raise are more than 20 centimeters long and have a lot of excrement every day, so I bought a filter worth several dozen yuan (running 24 hours a day) to filter the water while supplying oxygen. Generally, the daily power consumption is less than 1 degree. The water should be changed once a week, and one-third to one-half of the water should be changed each time. Do not change too much water at a time, as this will cause instability in the ecosystem of the fish tank and make it easy for the koi fish to adapt. Another thing to pay attention to is not to let oil contaminate the bathtub, otherwise it will easily cause suffocation due to lack of oxygen. 2. Cleaning of fish tank If you buy a fully automatic fish tank with a built-in cleaning system, you only need to change the filter cotton or clean it once every two weeks. However, koi do not need such complicated equipment, so the fish tank is prone to green moss. The way to prevent green moss is to clean the fish tank frequently. When cleaning the fish tank, take out all the fish and keep half of the water. After cleaning the fish tank, pour it back. If you don't have time to clean the fish tank frequently, you can put the fish tank in a cool place, avoid direct sunlight, and put wallpaper on the places with more light. 3. Don’t plant aquatic plants Nowadays, water plants are very expensive. If you raise koi, the water plants will be eaten quickly, which is not worth the loss. And the leftovers can easily pollute the water quality. My method is to grow water plants in a separate basin and regularly add water plants to the fish tank to supplement nutrition. 4. Water temperature control As mentioned above, koi can survive the cold winter, but they are less active in winter. If the weather is very cold, pay attention to putting in some nutritious fish feed to supplement the calories. If the weather is very hot, feed less food, clean the fish tank more often, and change the water more often. When changing the water, pay attention to the water temperature. If koi are suddenly put into cold water, it will be difficult for them to adapt, so put the water in a basin to cool for a while, and pour it into the bathtub when the water temperature is about the same as the air temperature. 5. Food Koi are omnivores. They can eat crickets, earthworms and other insects, as well as bread crumbs, steamed buns and other vegetarian foods. In short, they basically eat everything you eat, so I raise koi like raising dogs. I give them the leftover corn. If you feed them a lot, you have to change the water frequently. The more you feed, the worse the water quality. How much feed is appropriate for a fish? It's hard to say. The general standard is that if the koi finishes the food quickly after you feed it, you have to feed it more. If the koi hasn't finished eating within 5 minutes, it means you have fed it a lot. 6. Lighting Koi do not need special lighting, but in order to kill bacteria, you can also buy those lights with sterilization effects and turn them on for one or two hours at night. I also have this device, but I can't see any direct effect, so I stopped using it for a while. Of course, this does not mean that this light has no effect (some hospitals also use this principle to kill bacteria), but I just can't see it. 7. Pond and tank culture 1. Pond culture The main difficulty of pond breeding is that not every household has the space and reasonable conditions for pond breeding. 2. Tank culture The main difficulty of keeping fish in a tank lies in the oxygen supply and filtration. The water needs to be changed slowly because the tank is not in contact with the ground like a pond and has a larger amount of water. Changing the water can easily cause large changes in water temperature, which can weaken the koi's cold constitution. It is recommended to keep koi in a bare tank, because the koi is a piece of art. The water plants will be eaten up by the koi, and other rockery will take up space. Adding some alkaline coral stones or volcanic stones is not for decoration, but the alkaline property can make the koi's color better and its body healthier. After reading the above content, everyone should have a certain understanding of raising young koi. No matter what method the breeder uses, the small koi cannot do without the requirements of water and feed. If you want the small koi to thrive, it is very important to change the water regularly and maintain hygiene. 1. The place where the animals are raised Koi fish are best kept in a pond. If you keep them in a tank, the filtration must be super powerful. It must be equipped with a circulating filtration and oxygenation system that works 24 hours a day. Koi fish should be fed with special feed. Whether you are raising koi fish or any other fish, you must change the water frequently, once every 3 to 5 days (in small amounts). Because they eat, drink, poop and urinate a lot, and fish also urinate, so you must change the water frequently to keep it fresh. 2. Choose fish species To raise koi well, the key is to choose the fish. Buying small fish of 10-20 cm will have the highest success rate. When choosing fish, you should see if the water is too muddy and if there are a few rotten fish in the fish school. If this is the case, you don't need to look at the fish in the pond. If you pass this level, you can quietly watch the koi fish you want. Don't buy koi fish with short and big heads, flat and blunt mouths, skinny or bloated bodies. Choose fish with a well-proportioned body, active swimming posture, and bright eyes. After choosing a koi fish, remember to ask the store to add oxygen to your fish. After bringing the fish home, don't rush to open the bag. Put the entire bag of fish on the surface of the water for 45 minutes to 1 hour to let the koi fish slowly adapt to the water temperature, then open the bag and let the water gradually mix with the water in the bag before releasing the fish. 3. Feeding When it comes to how to raise koi, the first thing to look at is feeding. Koi are omnivorous fish, they eat a variety of foods, common ones are bread crumbs, plant debris, earthworms, mealworms, rice, fruits, etc. Koi can be fed with 60% plant feed and 40% animal bait. Koi should be fed two to three times a day, and the amount of feeding should be based on the feed being eaten within ten minutes each time. It is recommended to buy bulk spices (a mixed granular feed, brown with a fishy smell). 4. Stocking density The density of Koi fish in fish ponds can be referred to the Koi fish density table. The density of water cluster tanks is generally 60 cubic centimeters × 30 cubic centimeters × 15 cubic centimeters, which can be used to stock 6 Koi fish with a body length of 15 cm to 20 cm; 90 cubic centimeters × 30 cubic centimeters × 50 cubic centimeters can be used to stock 8 Koi fish; 110 cubic centimeters × 30 cubic centimeters × 50 cubic centimeters can be used to stock 10 Koi fish. I hope everyone can buy a Koi fish tank that suits their actual situation. 5. Number of fish raised How many koi fish should be raised? According to Feng Shui, it is generally appropriate to raise nine. In traditional Chinese culture, nine is the most noble and yang number, which has an extremely noble meaning. In Feng Shui, there is a saying that "three threes are endless, six sixes are infinite". Six red-crowned koi fish represent "continuous good fortune", and five red and white koi fish represent "five blessings". In addition, the sayings of "three sheep bring good luck" and "two dragons playing in the water" are also widely circulated. Therefore, koi fish are good for Feng Shui, and it is best to raise three, six, five, nine, or two koi fish at home. 6. Four Seasons Management The breeding of koi fish should also pay attention to the changes of the four seasons. In spring, koi fish begin to recover from hibernation, and the breeding is moved from indoors to outdoors, but special attention should be paid to sudden temperature drops. Films should be covered in time to keep the water temperature stable; the feeding is mainly plant-based bait, and the amount of feeding is gradually increased from small to large. In summer, the weather is hot and hot, and plastic shade nets must be covered to prevent direct sunlight. In autumn, the weather is less rainy and sunny, and the water temperature has dropped significantly, which is most suitable for the growth of koi fish. The proportion of animal protein, such as silkworm pupae, can be increased. Increase the amount of feeding to promote rapid growth. In winter, the weather is relatively cold. When the temperature drops to 0℃, the koi fish should be transferred to the indoor fish pond in time for wintering. The indoor water temperature should be kept at 2℃~10℃. The focus is on heat preservation, appropriate feeding, fat preservation and disease prevention. The period from November to March of the following year is the wintering period of koi fish. We have professional Koi fish breeding technology training video lectures. It is the training material for family breeding technology. If you need it, please contact [email protected] Both tanks and ponds are fine. Before raising them, pay attention to disinfection. Potassium permanganate and alkali can be used. Quicklime is recommended for ponds. Rinse them after disinfection. The water temperature should not be too cold, room temperature is fine. Koi, cold water, can be mixed with grass goldfish. They are omnivorous and eat pellets, grains, and insects. But they cannot be fed too much. Seven or eight points are enough, depending on how you feel. If you raise them in a pond, pay attention to the water temperature not being too high in summer. Do not feed them all the time, otherwise the fish will die. For reference only |
