What disease causes visceral edema, liver, kidney and spleen enlargement in chickens?

It should be Marek's disease (visceral type). The liver is often diffuse, the liver is enlarged several times, and the texture is brittle and fragile. There are miliary tumor liver, multiple nodular tumor liver, piebald tumor liver, and mixed tumor liver. It is often accompanied by enlarged spleen, large glandular stomach, large ovaries, enlarged kidneys and other symptoms.

Large liver and spleen disease, natural infection is mainly seen in chickens over 18 weeks old, especially laying hens aged 30-72 weeks are most susceptible, and the incidence rate is highest in laying hens aged 40-50 weeks, with a mortality rate increase of about 1%. Infected chickens have poor development and large individual differences. Laying hens are delayed in laying, with no peak egg production or a 20%-40% drop in egg production. Egg quality is reduced, and the eggshell fades, becomes thinner, and the egg volume decreases.

Megahepatomegaly refers to a viral infectious disease in chickens that is caused by the megahepatomegaly virus, which is characterized by abnormal enlargement of the liver and spleen and a sudden decrease in egg production.

Causes:

The pathogen of this disease is the hepatomegaly virus, which mainly attacks the target organs and immune organs of chickens, among which the thymus and cecal tonsils are damaged first and most seriously, followed by the spleen and bursa, resulting in reduced immune function.

It usually occurs in summer and autumn, and chickens aged 20 to 58 weeks are susceptible. Clinical symptoms appear around the time of sexual maturity. It spreads quickly and can spread throughout the flock in 1 to 2 weeks. The egg production rate of chickens drops sharply or fails to reach the peak egg production period.

Main symptoms:

Sick chickens become depressed, have poor appetite, excrete yellow watery feces, have white combs and wattles, and their egg production rate drops sharply. Some sick chickens die suddenly and fall on their backs after death.

Darong Daganning can be used to treat splenomegaly and glandular stomach enlargement caused by enlarged liver and spleen in broiler chickens, which leads to decreased egg production and improves the egg production rate of broiler and laying hens.
