  • Bacterial infection: such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus parasuis, etc.
  • Pathogen infection: such as Streptococcus suis, Parasuis infectious anemia, etc.
  • Environmental factors: such as temperature being too high or too low, stocking density being too high, etc.

Symptoms of fever in suckling pigs

When piglets have a fever, they will have the following symptoms:

  • Elevated body temperature: generally exceeding 39.5°C.

Preventive measures for fever in suckling pigs

To prevent fever in suckling pigs, the following preventive measures can be taken:

  • Health management : Keep the breeding environment clean and sanitary, clean the pig house regularly, and reduce the risk of pathogen transmission.
  • Maintain a reasonable stocking density : avoid too high a stocking density and allow the piglets enough space to move around.
  • Strengthen immunity : Vaccinate according to the pig farm's immunization procedures to improve the immunity of piglets.
  • Regular physical examinations : Ask your veterinarian to perform regular physical examinations to detect problems in a timely manner and take appropriate measures.
  • Avoid stress : Reduce stress on piglets and avoid excessive transportation, mixed breeding, etc.
