CATDOLL: How long does it take for a fly to go from a maggot to a fly?

1. How long does it take for a fly to transform from a maggot into a fly?

It takes about a week for flies to transform from maggots into flies.

After the flies lay eggs, they will turn into maggots 24 hours later (relative temperature 24 degrees). After 3-4 days, the maggots will turn into pupae, and after 1-2 days, the pupae will turn into flies.

The larvae of flies are commonly known as fly maggots. There are three instars: the first instar larvae are 1 to 3 mm long and have only the posterior spiracles. After molting, they become the second instar, 3 to 5 mm long, with anterior spiracles and 2-lobed posterior spiracles. After molting again, they become the third instar, 5 to 13 mm long, with 3-lobed posterior spiracles.

The main factors affecting the growth and development of maggots include temperature, humidity, food, ventilation, etc.

Pupa is the third metamorphosis in the life history of flies. The external factors that affect the growth and development of pupae mainly include temperature, humidity, etc.

The adult fly that emerges from the pupa needs to go through several stages of being still - crawling - stretching the body - spreading the wings - hardening of the body wall before it can develop into an adult fly with the ability to fly, feed and reproduce.

Flies are Diptera insects, and they go through four developmental stages in their life, namely egg, larva, pupa and adult, which is a complete metamorphosis! Among them, the larva is what you call maggots, and maggots have to go through the pupa stage in the middle of becoming adults. When the larvae are mature, they crawl to the loose soil or rock crevices near the breeding site to pupate. The site is relatively hidden, so if you are not careful or professional, it is generally not easy to see the stage of pupae turning into adults!

As for how long it takes for maggots to turn into adults, it mainly depends on the type of fly, external temperature, humidity and nutrients. Generally, houseflies develop fastest at 35 degrees. It takes 3-4 days for larvae to become pupae, and it takes about 1-2 days for pupae to emerge as adults. Therefore, when the temperature is suitable, it usually takes 6-7 days for maggots to turn into flies!

2. Can you provide the breeding information of mosquitoes, flies and cockroaches?

Mosquitoes: Each female mosquito lays about 1,000 to 3,000 eggs in her lifetime. They usually lay their eggs on the water surface, which hatch into aquatic larvae two days later. The larvae feed on algae in the water. They shed their skin four times before growing into pupae, floating on the water surface. Eventually, the pupae's skin breaks and the larvae are born.

Flies: The life of a fly is divided into four stages: egg - larva (maggot) - pupa - adult fly. Under suitable temperature, this process only takes about 20 days. It ranks first in the insect world. A female fly can lay eggs five or six times in her life, 100-150 eggs each time. Therefore, the density of flies is getting higher and higher. Flies usually mate first, and then the female flies lay eggs in the food. After that, the food will be full of maggots, hundreds or thousands of them at a time, and only about one tenth survive. After that, the maggots will shed their skin, and they will become flies after shedding layers of skin.

Xiaoqiang: Cockroaches ovulate throughout their lives after being conceived once. The fallen cockroach egg pods can still hatch 37-44 cockroaches, which hatch once every 20-40 days. Cockroaches have a very strong reproductive capacity. A mature female cockroach can produce an ootheca containing 14-40 eggs every 7-10 days. The ootheca is a colloid body and hatches between 20℃-37℃. The higher the temperature, the shorter the hatching time. At a constant temperature of 30℃, it only takes 20-30 days, and the longest can exceed three months. A female cockroach can reproduce nearly 10,000 offspring a year, and up to 100,000. Under extreme conditions, when there are no male cockroaches, female cockroaches can also lay eggs.

Hope this helps

3. What conditions are needed for fly eggs to hatch?

There are many types of flies in the order Diptera. Take houseflies as an example: at a temperature of 28°C, eggs are laid 12 hours later and then become larvae (maggots). The larval stage is 5 to 8 days, and the pupal stage is 3 to 5 days. (Artificial breeding)

In summer, flies usually lay eggs, which take 3 to 7 hours to hatch into maggots, and complete a generation in about 10 days.

4. Are flies ovoviviparous?

Except for the flesh flies which are ovoviviparous, the other adult flies start laying eggs 5-6 days after mating. Under normal temperature, the eggs hatch into larvae in half a day to a day. The larvae shed their skin twice and become pupae in 3-4 days. After another 3-15 days, the pupae become flies and break out of their shells. The time it takes for flies to complete the development process from eggs to adults is mainly related to the temperature. For example, at 35℃ in summer, it only takes 7 days for house flies to complete the process from eggs to adults.

5. When and how are flies born? And when do they die?

They exist in spring, and evolved from maggots. They do not exist when the weather is cold.
