CATDOLL: What are the benefits of raising cicadas, or what are the uses of cicadas? ? ?

Cicada molt is also called cicada skin. It is sweet, salty and cold in nature. It is non-toxic and enters the lung and liver meridians. It has the effects of dispersing wind and heat, relieving sore throat and rash, removing cataracts and relieving spasms, and improving hearing. There are records of eating cicadas in the ancient "Book of Rites". At that time, cicadas were not only the food of ordinary people, but also became a delicacy in the banquets of kings and nobles. To this day, many places in mainland China still retain the custom of eating cicadas. Cicadas can be eaten in various ways, either stewed or roasted, or fried.

Like earthworms, grasshoppers, ants, bean worms, silkworm pupae and other insects, cicadas are high-protein foods. According to nutritionists, cicadas contain up to 72% protein, making them a natural nutritional supplement.

How to use cicada shell

In fact, the earliest medicine used was the cicada, i.e. the body of the cicada, rather than the cicada molt (cicada skin). In the "Shennong's Herbal Classic" of the Qin and Han Dynasties, the cicada was listed as a "medium-grade product", saying that it could cure "children's night crying, epilepsy, chills and fever", and was a special medicine for pediatrics.

It was not until the Southern and Northern Dynasties that cicada molts were used as medicine in the "Famous Doctors' Records". Since then, people have used cicada molts more and cicadas less. "Compendium of Materia Medica" says: "Today, people only know how to use molts, but not cicadas." Even today, people are used to using cicada molts instead of cicadas, which is a pity. Here is an introduction to its uses and usage:

Heat dissipation, cough relief and asthma relief

For wind-heat invading the lungs, with symptoms such as fever, cough, hoarseness, itchy throat and dysentery, cicada shells combined with mint, burdock seeds, mulberry medicine, etc. can achieve good results.

Modern pharmacological research has confirmed that cicada slough has the effects of relieving bronchial smooth muscle spasms and anti-allergic, so cicada slough can be used as medicine to significantly enhance the antitussive and antiasthmatic effects, with a dosage of 6 to 9 grams.

Clear rash and relieve itching

Cicada slough is used to treat measles that is not well-emitted. It also has antipruritic, anti-swelling and anti-allergic effects on angioedema, urticaria or urticaria caused by mosquito bites or other reasons. At this time, cicada slough can be taken internally and externally for washing.

When used to cure rashes and relieve itching, it is often combined with siler, mint, chrysanthemum, and plantain seeds.

Antispasmodic and anti-wind

Modern pharmacology has confirmed that cicada slough has a ganglion blocking effect, which can reduce muscle tension and thus relieve muscle spasms. It is clinically used for high fever spasms, tetanus muscle spasms, rheumatic pain with joint stiffness, and spastic stiffness of hands and feet during hemiplegia caused by stroke.

Good hearing

Cicada molts added with Platycodon grandiflorum, Sterculia lychnophora, Ophiopogon japonicus, etc. are effective in treating hoarseness; cicada molts can also be used as medicine to treat sensorineural deafness, which can also achieve good results.

Relieves throat and removes cataract

For colds, sore throats, keratitis and conjunctivitis caused by wind and fire, the effect of cicada shells combined with mint, scutellaria baicalensis, and erhua is quite obvious, and the dosage does not need to be too much, 3 to 6 grams is enough.

In addition, using cicada shells in combination with perilla leaves and motherwort to treat chronic nephritis has a certain effect on reducing proteinuria.
