Locusts are pests. Should we release them or not?

The Buddha's teaching of not killing refers to all sentient beings! The Buddha is merciful and does not harm pests. Pests harm us because of our bad karma in past lives. We harmed them first, and then they retaliated. If we kill them today, we will owe them a life debt again. If we meet them again in the next life, they will want us to take our lives! Revenge is endless! In this way, we will forever roll around in the cycle of reincarnation, living a miserable life with no end in sight.

Locusts are pests. What do they mainly feed on?

Locusts mainly feed on the stems and leaves of grass plants, and harm corn, sorghum, rice and other crops, so they are agricultural pests. According to records: from 707 BC to 1935 AD, there were more than 800 locust plagues in my country, an average of once every three years. When the locust plague is serious, swarms of locusts migrate like dark clouds covering the sky. Wherever the locusts go, only some stalks of the crops that were originally growing vigorously are left, and no grain is harvested. Nearly millions of disaster victims leave their homes and flee everywhere (the harm is extremely serious). After liberation, the Party and the government attached great importance to the prevention and control of locust plagues, kept abreast of the locust situation, and carried out artificial, agricultural and chemical methods of prevention and control. Therefore, my country has basically controlled the locust plague.
