CATDOLL: What do earthworms eat?

1. What do earthworms eat?

The earthworm eats bran, rice bran, cornmeal, broken grains, peanut cakes, soybean meal, miscellaneous fish, meat, various green vegetable leaves, melon and fruit peels, bone meal, shell powder and mineral feed.

Introduction to the ground beetle:

Eupolyphaga sinensis Walker, a Chinese medicine name. It is the dried body of the female Eupolyphaga sinensis Walker or Steleophaga Plancyi (Boleny), an insect of the family Steleophaga. After being caught, it is put into boiling water and scalded to death, then sun-dried or baked. It is distributed in Hebei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan and other places. It has the effects of breaking blood and removing blood stasis, and repairing tendons and bones. It is used for traumatic injuries, tendon injuries and fractures, blood stasis and amenorrhea, abdominal pain caused by blood stasis after childbirth, and lumps and masses.

Eat bran, rice bran, cornmeal, crushed grains, peanut cakes, soybean meal, fish, meat, various green vegetable leaves, melon and fruit peels, bone meal, shell powder mineral feed

The diet of earthworms is very diverse, and the sources of feed are wide. Feed includes plant feed and animal feed. Among them, plant feed can be divided into green feed, cereal feed and cake (meal) feed, which is the main feed for breeding earthworms.

Plant-based feed:

1. Green feed: There are many kinds of green feed, such as lettuce, water spinach, rape, pumpkin, loofah, wax gourd, watermelon rind, potato, carrot, etc. Various wild vegetables, forage grass, leaves, stems and leaves of crops, and peels of fruits such as apples and pears. Among them, mulberry leaves, dandelions, lettuce, pumpkin, carrot, etc. are the most common green feed for earthworms.

2. Cereal feed: wheat bran, rice bran, sorghum, corn, etc. are the main feeds for feeding earthworms. Wheat bran is the main one, which can generally be fed raw. If it is slightly fragrant after being fried, steamed or boiled, earthworms will like it more and the effect will be better.

3. Cake (meal) feed: such as bean cake, bean curd residue, peanut cake, sesame cake, rapeseed cake, etc. This type of feed is rich in protein. Although it is not the main feed, it is not dispensable. Cake and meal feed has a great effect on the production of earthworms.

Animal feed:

Including fish meal, bone meal, silkworm pupa meal, small fish and shrimp, various animal debris, earthworms, etc. Adding this kind of feed can promote the rapid growth of earthworms and shorten the breeding cycle. It is a very good feed.

In short, there are many kinds of feed for earthworms, and the formula should be flexibly mastered. Only with reasonable matching and scientific formula can a good nutritional foundation be laid for the growth and development of earthworms, and high yield and high efficiency can be achieved in the future.

The maximum density of earthworms is 9 kg per square meter. Because they have the habit of eating eggs, the density cannot be too high. From June to September, feed daily, preferably in the morning. In other months, feed once every other day. When molting, feed less or no concentrate. The breeding pit should be dark, and leave small holes of 3.3 cm in length in the upper left corner and the lower right corner for ventilation. When the temperature is higher than 38℃, open the pit door to cool down. In the low temperature seasons of winter and spring, artificial heating can be used to keep earthworms from hibernating, so that commercial insects can be produced twice a year. Artificial heating can be maintained at a temperature of 27~32℃.

2. What should I feed my earthworm?

The diet of earthworms is quite diverse. The main feeds commonly used are: wheat bran, rice bran, bean curd residue, melon and fruit peels, vegetable leaves, sweet potato vines, duckweed and animal feeds. Nymphs from the 1st to 4th instar are not good at emerging from the soil and mostly forage in the surface layer of the breeding soil. Therefore, a layer of dry soil can be sprinkled on the surface of the breeding soil, and the concentrate feed can be sprinkled directly on the soil to facilitate the larvae to forage. Nymphs and adults above the 5th instar like to emerge from the soil to forage. A 3 cm thick rice husk can be sprinkled on the surface of the breeding soil, and the feed can be sprinkled on it. This will allow the earthworms to pass through the rice husks after emerging from the soil, remove the dirt from the insect body, and keep the feed clean. In the months with low temperatures, feed once every two days. From 36 to September, the temperature is high, the earthworms grow fast, and the appetite is large, so they need to be fed once a day. The best time to feed is in the morning. It should be noted that the concentrate feed should be fed with green feed. Feeding more animal feed can promote the rapid growth and development of earthworms.

3. What do earthworms eat? How to raise them? What kind of environment is suitable for them?

The key points of earthworm breeding in summer are cooling, moisturizing and disease prevention: 1. Prevent heatstroke and cool down to ensure that the most suitable temperature for earthworms is 30 degrees. If the temperature is higher than 38 degrees, ventilation and cooling should be done well. At the same time, if the feed soil is dry, the earthworms will stop growing or even die; if it is too wet, the feed soil will clump, hinder activity and affect fertility. Therefore, the humidity of the feed soil should be kneaded into a ball by hand and scattered when it falls to the ground. Generally, the absolute water content is about 30%. If the feed soil is too dry, a small amount of clean water can be sprayed on the surface to adjust the temperature. 2. Eliminate diseases and prevent enemies. The temperature is high in summer and the environment is hot and stuffy. It is easy to suffer from damp-heat disease, aspergillosis, powder mites and other diseases and pests. Preventive measures should be taken in time. The feed should be fresh. It is strictly forbidden to use moldy feed, and the residues of the breeding pool should be cleaned and disinfected frequently. In addition, it is also necessary to prevent rats, ants and other bites from harm. 3. Feeding and management In summer, the activity of earthworms is high, and the water consumption in the insects is very large. They must have enough water to replenish. During this period, it is advisable to feed more juicy green feed, such as various stems and leaves, fruits, vegetables, etc., and bran should also be mixed with wet feed. Feed as much as possible, master the rescue of fine feed, mainly green, and feed reasonably. At the same time, according to the changes in the insect's food intake, increase or decrease the amount of feed, it is advisable to eat small amounts and multiple meals, minimize residues, and avoid the production of bacteria.

4. What does the earthworm eat? I caught a earthworm at home today. I want to keep it. What does the earthworm eat?

The Chinese giant softshell turtle is an important medicinal insect.

It lives in dark, moist, humus-rich loose soil. It is afraid of sunlight. It hides during the day and is active at night. The optimum temperature for its growth is 28-30℃. Temperatures below 0℃ or above 38℃ will cause mass death of adults and nymphs. It will stop being active and enter a dormant period when the temperature drops to 8℃.

The earthworm needs to go through three stages to complete a generation: egg, nymph and adult. It takes about 8 months for male nymphs to grow wings, while female wingless nymphs need about 9 to 11 months to mature. Male nymphs die 5 to 7 days after mating. Female nymphs can lay eggs one week after mating, and they will lay eggs for the rest of their lives.

The Chinese earthworm is an omnivorous insect. It likes fresh food, and prefers bran and rice bran, followed by cornmeal, broken grains, peanut cakes, soybean meal, fish, meat, various grass and vegetable leaves, fruit peels, chicken, cow dung and other coarse feed. If it is fed with grass alone, it will grow slowly. The complete feed can be 72% wheat bran, 20% cornmeal, 5% soybean cake, and 3% animal feed (cooked feed). It should be boiled with boiling water when feeding, and 30%-40% green vegetables or fruits should be added. It can grow into an adult after 5-6 months of feeding with complete feed.
