CATDOLL: How do snails crawl?

1. How do snails crawl?

Snails usually cling to other objects with their ventral feet and use their abdominal muscles to make wave-like movements, and then they can crawl.

Snails are slowly crawling animals. The tiny snails carry a spiral shell on their backs and look like they are struggling to crawl forward. There are flat ventral feet on the snail's abdomen, which are their tools for crawling. The ventral feet of the snails can secrete mucus, so wherever the snails crawl, they always leave a sticky liquid trail. These mucus are like "roads" laid by the snails on the rough ground, which not only help the snails crawl, but also protect their soft bodies.

When crawling, this mucus keeps flowing out to reduce friction, which helps the snail to crawl. It sticks to the places it passes by as it crawls, and when it dries, it becomes a shiny line.

Main types of snails

Snails are terrestrial shelly mollusks. There are many types of snails, about 25,000 species, distributed all over the world. There are thousands of species in my country alone. Most snails are poisonous and inedible. There are about 11 species with edible value in my country, such as brown cloud agate snail, tall ring-mouthed snail, Hainan snail, wrinkled scar snail, Jiangxi snail, Ma's snail, white jade snail, etc.

1. Chinese snail

The shell is medium in size, thin and solid, and low cone-shaped. The shell surface is yellowish brown or yellow. The body whorls are extremely enlarged, with a light brown band around the edge. In addition, there is also a lighter band at the bottom of each whorl near the suture line. The shell mouth is oval with a white porcelain-like rib inside, and the umbilicus is cave-shaped.

2. Scattered Snails

It belongs to the "Hallices" snail and is native to France, the United Kingdom and other regions in central and western Europe. It usually lives in gardens or bushes, so it is called "garden snail".

3. Agate snail

Taiwanese call it Lu Snail, while in Guangdong it is called Dongfeng Snail, Cailuo or Hualuo. It belongs to the agate snail family. The agate snail is native to Malagasy Island in East Africa and later spread throughout the tropical region. It is the largest snail in the world, so it is also called the African giant snail.

4. White Jade Snail

The white jade snail, also known as the white meat snail, is named for its snow-white flesh. It is a leader among all the edible snail species in the world. The white jade snail is one of my country's special animals with special value, special nutrition, special flavor, and special uses. It has thick meat, rich nutrition, high protein, low fat, and rich in more than 20 kinds of amino acids. It is also the best tonic for astronauts and athletes.

5. Hawaiian snail

Hawaiian snails are a type of brightly colored snail belonging to the genus Ophiopoda. They are distributed in Hawaii. All existing species are endangered. Most of them have shiny, smooth oval or egg-shaped shells with different colorful colors, such as yellow, orange, red, brown, green, gray, black and white.

2. Where can snails be found?

Everyone is familiar with snails. They carry a heavy shell and move slowly. So do you know where it is easier to find snails?

Snails are terrestrial shellfish mollusks. Snails are animals with the most teeth. Snails have lived on the earth since ancient times. There are many types of snails, with more than 20,000 known species. Their footprints are all over the world. At present, there are thousands of species known in my country alone. There are about 11 species with edible value in my country, such as brown cloud agate snail, Hainan hard snail, tall ring-mouthed snail, Jiangxi snail, wrinkled hard snail, Ma's snail, white jade snail, etc. There are three main types of snails that are used as food and artificially cultivated around the world. Snails generally live in relatively humid places and hide in plants to avoid direct sunlight. Snails like to live in dark, humid, loose and humus-rich environments. They hide during the day and come out at night. They are most afraid of direct sunlight and are sensitive to the environment. Snails are more common in rural areas than in cities because there are a lot of trees and land in rural areas, and the living environment is more conducive to snail life. In cities, snails mostly live in bushes, flowers and plants, but in rural areas, after it rains, you will see many snails crawling on the ground or in corners.

If you want to find snails in your life, you can look for them in the bushes or grass after the rain, and you can easily find snails.

3. Can the gray snail be raised in water?

Probably not. It's not a water snail.

Clean the snail tank every two days. It is better to clean the snail tank once a day.

If feeding, feed some whole leaves, such as a whole cabbage leaf (depending on the number of snails)

Snails are afraid of: Pungent foods such as persimmon vines

Be sure to clean the fish tank on time

5. How to raise snails?

It's not difficult. Use a clean container and fill it with damp mud, preferably half mud. Usually there is no mud, so just put some vegetable leaves in it. Snails are easy to raise. I raise them in the company and there is no noise.
