CATDOLL: Can you tell me the ultimate method of raising Dubia cockroaches!?

Disadvantages: 1. Slow growth (the growth period is about six months to eight months, and the larvae need to eat the feces of the adults to help digestion, shortening the growth period)

2. The price is relatively expensive (because Taiwan is not yet so accepting of cockroaches as food, and because Dubia is an alien species, Taiwan has not yet caught up with the footsteps of Europe and the United States)

Advantages: 1. The shell is soft and easy to digest

2. No odor

3. Although the male adult has wings, both male and female insects cannot fly or jump at all stages.

4. Slow movement speed (even slower than the Oriental cockroach, which was previously known to move slowly)

5. It has no beak and will not attack its owner or pet. You can safely grab it with your hands, and you don’t even need clamps.

6. Most importantly, it won’t climb on smooth surfaces!

7. Can be intensively reared

8. Do not be cruel to others of the same kind

9. Easy to breed 10. No noise problem

11. Very low mortality rate (I once raised 30 newborns and raised them to adults, and still had 28 of them)

12. The adult worms are large and the serving size is sufficient

13. The rate of healthy growth is extremely high (although its reproduction is not large, one female worm can give birth to about 30 larvae, but the probability of healthy growth to adult is extremely high)

Tips: The general practice is to use a mixture of oatmeal, cat food, fish food, shrimp skin, etc. as bedding and their dry food, and then use an egg cage to insert it upright in the box (currently to increase space). On weekdays, you can put leftover apple cores, orange peels, banana peels, and leftovers on the egg cage as a source of food and water for them. But remember that what cockroaches eat = what your cockroaches eat, so the food of cockroaches will not be too demanding, and try to give them some food with high nutritional value (I often buy cacti for them to eat, which are high in calcium and can be kept for a longer time). The breeding box must be heated (the general practice is to put a heating pad under the box or put the entire box in a heated room). Dubia production is quite high, but the growth rate is very slow. If it is not heated, it is easy to consume the number of adults and sub-adults.

Afterthoughts: Actually, there are abundant species in China. I don’t think it is necessary to use foreign live bait unless necessary. I have discussed this with my friends before. In the end, we all think that in places like southern China (such as Guangzhou and Hong Kong) with hot weather, if locusts are bred by themselves, they should be very good live bait. Yes, parasites of wild locusts are indeed a problem, but as long as they are artificially bred, parasites should no longer be a problem after a few generations. Locusts are group animals, and they are vegetarians. They don’t attack their own kind. They are also very resilient and can survive even in dry environments. As long as there is a box with ventilation on all sides and a pot with soil at the bottom, they can reproduce by themselves.

As for the north, I don’t know much about it, so I can only rely on people who are interested to dig out new live baits.
