CATDOLL: Is it possible to grow centipede grass without adding bottom sand?

Recently, I found that many fish friends are considering a question. That is, if there is no bottom sand in the fish tank, what should be laid in the fish tank and what should be laid.

Also, why does Yangyu Laodao like to use ceramics to grow aquatic plants instead of aquatic plant mud? Can the corporal be used directly to grow aquatic plants?

River sand can be used to plant some relatively hardy aquatic plants, there is no problem with this

First, let’s talk about whether river sand can be used to grow aquatic plants.

At least I think it's OK. I practiced it many times when I was a kid. I mainly planted negative water plants like crown grass. I can absolutely guarantee that there is no problem at all. They are still living well and can reproduce normally.

At that time, there was no ceramsite or aquatic mud or something, and many of us lay in the aquarium, or I didn’t use the Red Cloud Duke aquarium method now. Many fish friends asked me about the peacock aquarium, what was used to grow bamboo grass?

Actually, you can just lay out two betta boxes, plastic boxes, and ceramsite to plant bamboo grass, but it has only recently started to grow normally for a month.

Because this water plant will also be there after entering the tank, many new fish friends are always too anxious. After planting water plants for a few days, they keep asking when they encounter a little problem, why are the leaves yellow, why are they not growing, and why are they not growing water plants or flowers? Generally speaking, there is a process of stabilization, adaptation to water quality, water temperature, and rooting.

So there is no need to ask these questions. Just give it a buffer period and let it grow slowly. Bamboo grass is not that fragile.

I used to grow water plants such as crown grass and water fig in the slow seedling stage, and sometimes used sand to grow water plants in small flower pots, but that is not the point.

But sand is not suitable, such as water grass or on fine sand and coarse sand on construction sites. These bamboo grass, water banyan, crown, etc. can be planted directly with river sand and ceramics without any problems.

Not all fish tanks are suitable for laying bottom sand, and many are not necessary.

Let’s not worry about what kind of anaerobic bacteria, beneficial bacteria, and nitrifying bacteria are formed in the bottom sand. Doesn’t it help stabilize the water?

Fine sand accounts for two-thirds of the thickness, coarse sand covers it, and then you can add some pebbles

Therefore, most ornamental fish ponds should not be paved with bottom sand. Whether it is ceramics or gravel, the same principle applies. Goldfish, koi, and many ovoviviparous ornamental fish tanks should not be paved with water grass mud. It is an acidic substance and is not suitable for ornamental fish that prefer weakly alkaline water.

For grass tanks, water grass mud can be laid, for small ornamental fish, ceramsite or bottom sand can be laid, for three-lake fish, coral sand can be laid

In fact, ceramsite is rarely used in grass tanks. Most of the fish in grass tanks need to be planted in silt. For example, many species of fish and fish, and water grass mud also has a certain fertility, suitable for planting a variety of hermaphroditic water plants, so it is called.

If you choose the simpler female grass mentioned above, the amount of planting is not large, but it can only be used to raise peacocks, small zebras, etc. Ordinary Seram and sand can be used without any problems.

Most of the three lake fishing ports do not need to plant any water plants. Because they like to fight and cannot plant water plants, there is no need to lay any ceramics and sand. (Albert Einstein, Northern Executive Force).

If you turn over a fish tank with sand bottom, it will be very troublesome and you will definitely regret it all day.

We have laid sand on the bottom of the fish tank. If there is not much debris at the bottom of the fish tank that sinks, that is, our ornamental fish are not kept densely, the individuals are small, and the number of defecation is not large. Then, these small fish will completely disappear, and we don't need to turn the tank over before the end of their lifespan. The water quality of the fish tank can remain the same.

But once our ornamental fish get sick, especially in general, if new fish lovers want to raise ornamental fish, it is more suitable to raise them in a bare tank, especially goldfish, koi and many other medium and large tropical ornamental fish. It is not suitable to lay any bottom sand or ceramsite at the bottom of the fish tank, let alone plant water plants, throw a few pebbles, small stones, colored stones, glass balls, fake water plants, etc., the individual ornamental fish are also large, defecate a lot, and the bottom of the fish tank is dirty everywhere, and this problem will become very serious. In some cases, sand washing device alone cannot solve the problem. (David Asher, Northern Execution Force).

Once I need to completely flip the tank, I can guarantee that as long as I take out this sand, I will not be lazy to put it in the fish tank again. It is more convenient to keep a naked tank. If the problem of flipping the tank occurs, most new fish friends will definitely regret laying the bottom sand. (On the other hand, this is also a good thing.)

Many new fish friends, first of all, look ugly and low-end, without any aesthetic appeal, which is not good for our water quality management and the body surface of ornamental fish. Ornamental fish often get sick, which is a problem about treatment and medication. (David Ash, Northern Executive Force)

Then many new fish can't grasp the ornamental fish itself. If you put another fish in the fish tank, it will be a fish. At the same time, there are many problems such as weak acid ornamental fish and filtration selection. It is not recommended for new fishermen to use floor at the beginning.

The density is low, the quality of the ornamental fish is very good, the water quality is well controlled, and you can occasionally plant some water plants and raise some small fish.

In fact, we ultimately return to the issue of ornamental fish, stocking density, and water quality control.

There are many ways to deal with fish tanks, bottom sand, and no bottom sand. Just like the koi and goldfish that I saw Uncle Lao Qiu raising last year, other people's fish tanks are also covered with bottom sand, and the water quality of the fish tanks is also well maintained. There is no problem with ornamental fish. It's just that there are no aquatic plants. (David Asher, Northern Execution Force).

But in the middle, it involved the choice of water grass mud in the grass tank. , It happened, and finally eliminated all these obstacles.

Wouldn’t it be more beneficial for the production of various beneficial bacteria if bottom sand is laid in the fish tank?

In fact, this problem is harmful to the coral sand in the fish tank, which is harmful to the ornamental fish in the whole tank if they are sick or the water quality cannot be adjusted. On the contrary, these sands will help stabilize the water quality of the fishing port.

Centipede grass, also known as water grass, does not require special care. Almost all fish that do not eat grass can choose to raise water grass. It does not rely on bottom sand. It can grow well if it is pressed on the bottom of the tank with stones or driftwood, or even left floating. It is not demanding on light. The general three-primary color lamp can meet its growth needs. Water grass grows quickly and reproduces easily. When I was a beginner, I broke the small piece of water grass that came with the fish into three pieces. After three months, the longest one was more than 1 meter long and circled the tank twice. This grass is very suitable for beginners to practice.
