CATDOLL: How to control ants

1. How to prevent and control ants

Burn eggshells and grind them into powder. Sprinkle them in the corners or near ant nests to kill ants. If there are ants on the closet, put some coriander, celery and other flavorful vegetables to drive away the ants. Put some walnut leaves, tobacco and pepper in places where ants often appear to drive away ants.

2. How to prevent and control ants?

Precautions

(1) Before home decoration, the home decoration materials should be processed or cleaned to avoid bringing ants into the house.

(2) Food should be promptly collected and properly stored. Food in the kitchen and storage room, especially sugar and honey, should be covered and kept clean.

(3) Block all cracks and holes in the room to prevent ants from entering the room to build nests and reproduce.

(iv) Clear away dead branches, leaves, stones, tiles, weeds, etc. around the house promptly to reduce the breeding of ants.

Physical prevention

Since it is not easy or convenient to locate the nest of household ants, it is difficult to control ants in the room by physical methods. It can only be limited to killing visible worker ants, etc., and cannot eradicate the roots. Generally, methods such as boiling water can be used.

Chemical control

Chemical control of household ants mainly relies on poison baits. Poison baits with good palatability and little repellent effect are placed in various gaps or ant paths in the room (i.e., the feeding routes mentioned above). Taking advantage of the ants' habit of moving food, the poison baits are moved into the nest to kill the queen ant and the king ant, thus achieving the goal of eliminating the entire nest. Commonly used poison baits are cockroach and ant poison baits. When placing them, the principle of more points and less quantity should be followed. In kitchens and storage rooms where ants are seriously infested, one pile of poison bait should be placed every 1 meter, with 2 grams per pile, and attention should be paid to moisture-proofing. After 3 days, check whether the poison bait has been moved and eaten, and pay attention to appropriate replenishment. Generally, it can play a killing role after 10 days. At this time, aerosol insecticides can be used to thoroughly treat the ant habitat.

Ants are social insects. Once they are threatened, the entire nest will quickly relocate, making prevention and control more difficult. Indoor ant prevention and control should first determine the infestation site and implement various preventive measures to minimize the living conditions of the ants. When using chemical methods, you should first use poison bait to kill the entire nest of ants. Remember not to apply aerosol insecticides or sprays indoors at the beginning, so as to avoid causing the population to spread and aggravate the ant infestation.

3. How to prevent ants?

Household ants can be prevented by first flooding them with boiling water, and then putting washing powder into the ditch to block them. You can also use sprays that kill cockroaches and mosquitoes. These drugs have a killing effect on small red ants. Washing powder ditch barrier:
Since ants will drown once they enter the detergent water, this method can be used to protect a certain area;
○Chemical control:
Dust: Usually, inhalable dust such as silicic acid (silicon dioxide) powder is used to cause ants to lack water in their bodies and die;
○Silicate mealworm powder mixture:
This method is an improvement on the above method and can shorten the killing time, but you should avoid inhaling the dust yourself or inhaling the dust into the room;
Chemical spraying: Spraying chemicals around the entrance of the ant nest and on the ant trail can directly kill the ants. This method is prone to cause environmental pollution and resistance. The most commonly used chemicals are as follows:
Spray 500-1000 times diluted 90% or more trichlorfon stock solution;
Spray 50% dichlorvos EC or 80% dichlorvos EC at 1000-1500 times dilution, 2000-3000 times dilution;
0.1% pyrethrin kerosene solvent spray, etc.
These methods have good effects and are quick to take effect, but they are not thorough, difficult to eradicate, and are prone to environmental pollution and resistance.
○ Juvenile hormone analog bait:
That is, add juvenile hormone analogs, such as Chlfluazuron and Methoprene, to the bait. The hormone concentration is generally 0.6% to 1.5% of the bait weight. Currently, research is underway to add synergists to juvenile hormone analogs to make this method more perfect.

4. How to eliminate ants

It is normal to have ants at home, but indoor ants are more or less harmful to the home. For example, ants will steal and bite food, and then spread bacteria, which can easily cause diseases to people. In addition, there are still many people, especially those with a bit of mysophobia, who are particularly annoyed by the appearance of ants in their homes. They have tried many ways but still cannot drive away the ants that "settle" in their homes. So how can we eliminate ants at home more efficiently?

Celery and coriander: If there are ants in the kitchen, you can put some vegetables that ants dislike, such as celery and coriander, on the cupboard to effectively drive away the ants.

Walnut leaves or peppercorns: You can also put some walnut leaves or peppercorns and other things with pungent smells in areas where ants often appear, which can also have the effect of repelling ants.

Eggshell powder: You can use several eggshells, bake them until they turn yellow but not burnt, then grind them into powder and sprinkle them in places where ants often appear to feed them to death. Then there will be no ants next time you put them there.

Insecticides: You can also use various insecticides that kill cockroaches and mosquitoes to spray and kill worker ants.

Boiling water: You can first use boiling water to soak the ants in your home. Just like putting laundry detergent into the ditches where ants often appear to block them, you can prevent and control them.

Poison bait: We can buy a kind of poison bait that has no effect on ants and is suitable for ants' taste. It can poison the king ant, queen ant and newly born larvae in the nest and kill them completely. This method is the most effective and is recommended for everyone to try.

Cleanliness: Keeping your home clean and tidy, odor-free, and well-ventilated can also drive away ants to a certain extent. If ants have nothing to eat in your home, can they still stay?

5. How to prevent ants

○Washing powder drain barrier:

This method is prone to environmental pollution and resistance. The most commonly used agents are as follows:

Spray 500-1000 times diluted 90% or more trichlorfon stock solution;

Spray 50% dichlorvos EC or 80% dichlorvos EC at 1000-1500 times dilution, 2000-3000 times dilution;

0.1% pyrethrin kerosene solvent spray, etc.

These methods have good effects and are quick to take effect, but they are not thorough, difficult to eradicate, and are prone to environmental pollution and resistance.

○Poison Bait:

Poison bait is a mixture of chemical agents and food bait that ants like to eat. According to the ant's trophobia, after a worker ant eats the poison bait, as long as it does not die within a short period of time, it can bring the poison bait into the ant nest, causing the death of other individuals, usually within seven days. However, ant pupae do not eat, so they may survive, making the ant removal incomplete.
