CATDOLL: How to breed cockroaches? What are the necessary conditions?

1. How to breed cockroaches? What are the necessary conditions?

That depends on the species of cockroaches you raise. Cockroaches that can climb smooth surfaces, such as the common German cockroaches and Ma Xiaoqiang in homes. You need to use a breeding box (plastic box or wooden box), and the air vents must be covered with a fine mesh to prevent the cockroaches from escaping. Egg trays are placed in the breeding box, and they can be stacked in several layers for the cockroaches to hide. Cockroaches that cannot climb smooth surfaces, such as Dubia. You can just drill holes in the breeding box for ventilation. In addition, some species of cockroaches like to live under fallen leaves or in the soil, such as Peruvian giant cockroaches, rhinoceros cockroaches, etc. Coconut bran or sterile soil of not less than 5 cm should be laid under the breeding box. Some cockroaches can fly, so they should be prevented from escaping. Cockroaches generally eat grains + vegetables, mainly pumpkin, carrots, and cabbage. There should be a water dish in the breeding box for them to drink water.

2. What are cockroaches used for? How much does it cost to raise them in 100 square meters?

The breed of cockroaches is the American cockroach of the Blattidae family. This cockroach is large in size, has a wide food range, and has strong reproductive capacity. It is a very good artificial breeding breed. There are two types of breeding: 1. Mixed breeding with earthworms 2. Cockroach breeding and earthworm breeding. In the practical operation of our farm, it was found that there was no great conflict between cockroaches and earthworms, and even complementary advantages. Cockroaches do not burrow into the soil. During the day, they just drill into the cracks in the walls of the pit room and come out to forage at night. The earthworms burrow into the soil during the day and come out to forage in the evening. In the process of raising earthworms, there will be feed that the earthworms cannot eat that day. These feeds are excellent food for cockroaches, and the light, temperature, and humidity in the earthworm breeding room are also extremely suitable for cockroaches. In our practice, we found that when the feed source is insufficient, adult cockroaches also have the phenomenon of catching and eating earthworm larvae. The solution is: ① Control the light in the breeding room during the day so that cockroaches cannot come out to forage. ② When raising food, put some feed on the partitions of the earthworm pit to prevent cockroaches from starving and preying on earthworm larvae.

Cockroach breeding room. Cockroach breeding room has high requirements. When setting up the cockroach breeding room, you need to pay attention to the sealing degree of the house. It is best to use a flat-roofed house. The sealing degree of the house should be fully checked from top to bottom and left to right. A small gap will cause small cockroaches to jump. Build interlayer walls around the house, and the upper and lower dimensions are determined according to the size of the internal pit house. After the interlayer wall is built, use cement to plaster the surface. After plastering, stop work for 2 days, check the cracks on the cement wall, and fill the cracks. The design of the pit pool is set according to the size of the house, leaving a 1-meter walkway, each layer is 40 cm high, and is pre-cast with reinforced concrete to form a trough pit pool with a small groove extending 25 cm downward and a gap of 10 cm between the small grooves. For ease of operation, the amount of steel bars used when casting the pit pool should not be too small to prevent the trough pit pool from breaking when building the pit pool. The trough pit pool for cockroaches only needs to be stacked layer by layer, and the total height of the pit room should also be less than 2.6 meters. When stacked to the top layer, seal the top layer with concrete to prevent cockroaches from escaping. Place fodder, foam and other insulation materials on the top. Wooden doors and windows should not be used for cockroach pit rooms. Wooden doors and windows will be eaten by cockroaches, and aluminum alloy or plastic steel materials should be used. When making, attention should also be paid to the sealing degree. Stainless steel window screens should be used to seal the outside of the doors and windows to prevent jumping, and black curtains should be used for the doors and windows to block the strong light outside.

The heating facilities in the cockroach pit room can be set flexibly. Electric stoves, honeycomb coal stoves, wood chip stoves, etc. can be used, but the exhaust gas should be discharged outdoors to ensure the success of breeding and the safety of breeders.

3. How to feed Dubia cockroaches? What should be paid attention to when feeding Dubia cockroaches?

1. Temperature. The temperature for Dubia is between 15 and 32 degrees. The temperature in winter is relatively low. A temperature below 15 degrees may cause it to die, and a temperature above 32 degrees is not ideal either.

2. Humidity. Keep the humidity between 50% and 80%. Too high humidity will cause mold and disease, while too low humidity will be detrimental to peeling and growth. Generally speaking, humidity does not need to be considered in the south, but the north is relatively dry, so the humidity of the breeding box needs to be appropriately increased.

3. Food. Dubia is easy to raise. You can choose cat food, dog food, bran, roughage cornmeal, bread, fish feed, etc. You can feed it some carrots, apples, cucumbers, oranges, pears, cantaloupe, bananas, etc. every week.

4. When raising Dubia cockroaches, you need to control the amount of food you feed them. Some dry feed is enough for about 2-3 days. As for foods with higher humidity, such as cucumbers and apples, the amount should be controlled to the point where they can be eaten up the next day to avoid spoilage.

5. Dubia cockroaches shed their skin as a sign of growth. Dubia cockroaches shed their skin frequently, and they will not move when they shed their skin, so don't think they are dead, and don't help them shed their skin. In some cases, they are really dead, so don't worry about them.
