When does dace ovulate? The main food of the guppies is plankton, so pay attention to fertilization to maintain the fertility of the water body. In spring, you can feed them with green bait appropriately, with a daily feeding amount of 6% to 8% of their body weight. From March on, flush the water once a month, and once a week when spawning is approaching. The spawning period of dace begins in May and lasts until October. Mature spawning fish are 3 years old and weigh about 0.5 kg. The spawning grounds are in the middle and upper reaches of rivers, with the largest number in the Red River, Liujiang River, Qianjiang River and Guijiang River, tributaries of the Xijiang River in Wuzhou, Guangxi. Dace have a poor tolerance to low temperatures and hibernate in the deep river in winter. They cannot survive when the water temperature drops below 7°C. Sexual maturity The sexual maturity age of mackerel is 3 years old, and the sexual maturity weight is above 0.5-1.0 kg. The spawning and breeding period is from May to June. Sex Identification During the breeding season, the first 7 fin rays of the pectoral fins and the head of the sexually mature male fish have round white "stars" that feel rough to the touch; the abdomen is narrow, and when sexually mature, milky white semen flows out when the testes are gently pressed on the abdomen. Female fish have no "stars" and their abdomen is obviously swollen and soft; during the reproductive season, the cloaca is red and swollen and protrudes outward. Selection and breeding of broodstock The broodstock used for breeding should weigh more than 0.5 kg, be 2 to 4 years old, healthy and uninjured. Generally, about 20 broodstock weighing 1 kg are stocked per 100 square meters, with a small amount of grass carp and fish. |
