How much feed can river crabs eat in a day?

As an omnivorous animal, river crabs can accept many types of food. They can be fed natural bait or artificial feed.

Natural baits mainly include plankton, aquatic plants, benthic animals, etc., while artificial feeds include bean cakes, vegetable cakes, rice bran, silkworm pupae, etc. The feeds must be fed in combination and cannot be fed with the same food for a long time to avoid it being picky about food.

River crabs are very resistant to starvation and can survive without food for one or two months as long as they are full. However, this animal has high requirements for humidity. Once it is away from water and enters a relatively dry environment, it can only live for about a week at most. Usually, when raising this animal, it must be fed regularly, once every one or two days, so that it will not become thin.

How to arrange the feeding amount for river crabs:

The weight of the crab before its last molting is 1 to 2 liang, with an average of 1.5 liang, or about 75 grams.

The weight of the female crabs that have completed the last physiological molting and reached sexual maturity is 2.2 liang and 3.2 liang, respectively, for the male crabs, i.e. 2.2 liang to 3 liang, with an average of 2.6 liang, or 130 grams. The weight of the material that needs to be added to the full yellow paste before molting is 130 grams - 75 grams = 55 grams.

According to the conversion rate of external energy absorbed by organisms and the omnivorous characteristics of crabs, the energy absorption rate of crabs is about 11%. The energy required for crabs to replenish is 55 grams/11%=500 grams, that is, one catty. It takes about 25 days from the time the crabs shed their shells to the end of their growth. Excluding sudden changes such as weather and water quality, the 500 grams of food intake in these 25 days shows a parabolic increase and then decrease, and the average daily food intake is about 20 grams, that is, four coins.

That is, a normally growing crab during the late fattening period requires an average of 4 cents of complete feed including fish, shrimp, and cooked corn bean cakes per day.
