CATDOLL: The main production area of light-dried sea cucumbers

1. The main production areas of light-dried sea cucumbers

China's domestic production areas of dried sea cucumbers are mainly divided into northern sea cucumbers and southern sea cucumbers. The northern market has formed two major mainstream blocks, mainly Shandong sea cucumbers and Liaoning sea cucumbers, while the southern dried sea cucumbers have emerged as a new block represented by Fujian.

2. Where are the best sea cucumbers produced?

Sea cucumbers in general (sashimi) Yantai and Dalian are close to the Bohai Sea, the water temperature is relatively mild, and the sea cucumbers produced are better. The farmed sea cucumbers in Weihai are also good. The sea cucumbers produced in Qingdao are also very good, but the output is relatively low. There are also many sea cucumbers produced in Guangzhou.

3. What is the difference between wild sea cucumber and farmed sea cucumber?

One is the spines of sea cucumbers

The sea cucumbers grown in the wild environment of the sea of Dachangshan Island have four or five spines on their backs (those produced on ocean islands). The roots of the spines are thick, the spines are long, thin and pointed, and there are many thick small barbs between the spines, which serve as exhaust vents for the sea cucumbers to breathe. Most captive sea cucumbers have short and thick spines, with few thin small barbs.

The second is the sucker of sea cucumber

Sea cucumbers rely on the suction cups on their abdomens to stick to the seabed. Wild sea cucumbers have more suction cups on their abdomens, which are short, thick and powerful; captive sea cucumbers have fewer suction cups, which are thin and long. This is mainly because the water flow in the deep sea is fast, and sea cucumbers must hold on to the sand and rocks tightly to stay firmly on the seabed. Over time, wild sea cucumbers have more suction cups, which are short, thick and powerful. Captive sea cucumbers have less water flow, so they can easily stick to the seabed or rocks, and their suction cups are thin and long.

The third is the shape of the sea cucumber

Wild sea cucumbers grow in the wild, in deep sea water (26-27 meters), without fixed feed, and usually grow for three to five years, with long sunshine hours. The color of sea cucumbers is dark gray, with thick flesh and thin skin. Captive sea cucumbers need to be fed with feed regularly and quantitatively. Sea cucumbers grow fast, and most of them can grow into the size for sale in one or two years. The color is mostly dark yellow and bright, with thick skin and thin flesh. Sea cucumbers grown in the wild have a relatively complete appearance, and the skin of sea cucumbers will not be scratched; captive sea cucumbers mostly have scratches on the outside. This is because when fishing for sea cucumbers, deep-sea sea cucumbers are mostly on sand and gravel or in the hanging nets for sea cucumber farming, and are easily caught. Captive sea cucumbers are mostly lying in the cracks of solid rocks, which are not easy to catch. Special tools must be used to quickly shovel and grab them, which can easily hurt the sea cucumbers.

Sea cucumbers require a relatively high environment for reproduction, that is, the mother sea cucumbers must release their seeds, and various conditions such as water temperature and water quality are required. For the wild sea cucumbers you mentioned, I think you want the kind that reproduces and grows naturally in the sea, but I am very sorry, there are no such sea cucumbers on the market now, whether it is Xiaoqin or Bangchuidao and other big brands. It is impossible to wait for sea cucumbers to reproduce naturally. If they are raised in the wild, the survival rate of sea cucumber seeds is low, the supply cannot meet the demand at all, and it is not convenient to salvage. Now the wild refers to the fixed breeding of the sea in a circle, which can reduce the risk of preventing the sea cucumbers from being washed away by big waves, and it is easy to manage and improve the survival rate of sea cucumbers.

The real farmed sea cucumbers are those that are artificially fed in a closed environment, that is, in a greenhouse similar to a nursery room, where the water temperature and room temperature are kept constant, and artificial feed is spread to stimulate the growth. They can basically be put on the market in one year. This kind of sea cucumbers are much more common in the south. Most of the sea cucumbers in the north are wild. The best wild sea cucumbers are in Dalian, because the water temperature and water quality in Dalian are most suitable for the growth of sea cucumbers.

The mother ginseng gives birth to the baby ginseng in the nursery room, and then the mother ginseng returns to the sea circle, and the baby ginseng continues to grow in the nursery room. After two or three months, the baby ginseng grows to a certain size, and the larger ones can be put into the sea circle for growth. If you understand this process, then I can tell you responsibly that my ginseng is wild. Because it takes at least three years for the ginseng to be put into the sea circle before it can be put on the market.

I am also a local of Dalian. I think you have had such a memory. Our parents would go to the sea. When we were young, they were lucky enough to find sea cucumbers, abalone, sea urchins, etc. from the sea. But now there is almost no such opportunity. First, the sea is all owned by people, and second, there is no such thing in the sea. Just like abalone, can you say it is wild? Now everything is sold with a concept and packaging. In fact, everything is the same. Everyone thinks that the brand is good and the more expensive the better. I sold all my sea cucumbers to Bangchuidao.

So the best way is to buy it in person at the beach, watch it being fished out, watch it being processed, and then take it home. This is the most reassuring way. If it is not a gift, but for family consumption, there is no need to pursue brand effects, as long as the goods are genuine and the price is reasonable.

Finally, I want to tell you that don’t buy some of the low-priced ginsengs that are flooding the market this year, such as those sold in the morning market for dozens of dollars. They are all sea cucumbers and sea eggplants, and they have no nutritional value like sea cucumbers at all.

4. Where are the origins and distribution of sea cucumbers, abalone and shark fins?
