What are the temporary culture techniques for freshwater fish? How should they be managed?

Technology: Use aerators and sort the fish according to their adaptation to temperature.

Management: Slow sales in winter, hot sales in summer.

When breeding freshwater fish, it is necessary to choose a scientific feeding method according to different species. The water temperature and microorganisms in the water should be strictly monitored, and cleaning and disinfection should be carried out regularly.

Experts analyzed the factors affecting the price trend of freshwater fish. At present, the province is in the fishing ban period of natural water bodies such as the Yangtze River. Summer is also the traditional off-season for freshwater fish. In addition, the rainy, snowy and freezing weather at the beginning of the year damaged the freshwater aquaculture industry, resulting in a shortage of freshwater fish. In addition, the costs of freshwater aquaculture and circulation in the province have increased this year: first, the price of feed has continued to rise, and the wholesale price of corn has risen compared with the same period last year.

Since most freshwater fish are farmed in spring and caught in winter, and fish ponds that have expired or have low yields need to be dried and silted, and adult fish need to be caught and put on the market, and tropical fish that cannot survive the winter also need to be caught and put on the market. Therefore, the seasonal market for fish is often saturated in winter, resulting in price competition, low fish prices hurting farmers, and poor economic benefits; while in spring and summer, fewer freshwater fish are on the market, resulting in uneven market supply. Practice has proved that temporary winter rearing can not only adjust the supply of freshwater fish in the market, but also improve the economic benefits of aquaculture, and achieve increased production and income, which can be said to kill two birds with one stone.

1. Selection of temporary fish

The best fish for temporary rearing are those that are unsalable in winter, sell well in spring and summer, and can survive the winter. For example, silver carp, bighead carp, flathead carp, grass carp, etc. can withstand low temperatures and will grow bigger and gain weight during the temporary rearing period.

2. Temporary fish pond

Fish that have not reached the market specifications can be used in winter idle fish ponds to be farmed in ponds according to species and specifications. Before stocking, the pond can be cleaned and disinfected if conditions permit. 150 kilograms of tea bran soaked in water can be sprinkled throughout the pond, or 250 kilograms of quicklime can be made into a slurry and sprinkled throughout the pond. This will not only kill wild fish, but also improve the water quality. After the toxicity disappears after the test fish, the fish can be temporarily stocked in the pond; if the water quality is thin, fermented organic fertilizer can be applied per mu to cultivate rich plankton for fish to eat and to produce oxygen through photosynthesis. Before stocking the temporarily farmed fish, they should be bathed in 3%-5% salt water to prevent water mold disease and kill parasites.

3. Management during the temporary care period

During the temporary rearing period, management should be strengthened. In the early stage, the water temperature is relatively high, so it is appropriate to feed more feeds with high protein and fat, such as peanut bran, bean cake, wheat bran, etc., to increase the nutrient accumulation in the fish. When the water temperature is below 5℃, the focus of management is to retain water, increase the dissolved oxygen in the pond water, and prevent the water level from dropping too much, causing water shortage and lack of oxygen and frostbite and freezing of fish; when the weather is fine and the temperature is high, feed should be fed once every 3-5 days. After the beginning of spring, the weather gradually warms up, and it is time to feed and fertilize normally to promote its growth and weight gain. During the entire temporary rearing period, attention should be paid to preventing diseases such as water mold disease and parasitic diseases. After Qingming Festival, the fish can be caught and put on the market one after another.
