CATDOLL: How are spoonbill sturgeons bred and reproduced, and how are diseases prevented and controlled?

The spoonbill sturgeon, commonly known as the duck-billed fish, is native to North America. The spoonbill sturgeon lives in the middle and upper layers of the water body. It has a gentle temperament and is not good at jumping. It likes to live in lakes or reservoirs with slow water flow and relatively rich bait organisms. Its survival temperature is 1~35℃, and the optimal temperature is 15~25℃, which is suitable for breeding in most parts of my country; it has high requirements for dissolved oxygen in water quality, and the dissolved oxygen needs to be above 5~7mg/L; it is a filter-feeding fish (similar to bighead carp), eating plankton, and can be domesticated to eat artificial compound feed; it grows fast and can grow to more than 0.5 kg in the same year, 2-year-old fish exceeds 1.5 kg, and 3-year-old fish exceeds 2.5 kg. The following key points should be mastered in the pollution-free breeding technology of the spoonbill sturgeon:

Artificial breeding

Generally speaking, female fish are large, with swollen abdomen, swollen, congested, and slightly relaxed near the genital opening, and it is easy to insert the little finger into the genital opening; male fish are smaller and have more protrusions on the head. At present, the frozen spoonbill pituitary (PG) and luteinizing hormone-releasing analog (LRH-A2) have better oxytocin effects. The spoonbill pituitary is commonly used. The two-injection method is often used. The first injection is 10 micrograms per tail for both males and females. The second injection is injected 12 to 15 hours later. The dose is 1 (PG) 1 tablet + (LRH-A2) 6 micrograms per kilogram of body weight for female fish, and 1/2 of the dose for male fish. The drug is prepared with 0.65% saline, ground and injected intraperitoneally. The water temperature for broodstock induced spawning is controlled between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, and the effect time is about 16 hours. Broodstock with better gonadal development can basically produce empty eggs.

Fish fry cultivation

It is carried out in two stages. In the first stage, the length of the fish is raised from 2 to 3 cm to 6 to 7 cm. Generally, it takes about 15 days to raise the fish in a cement pool or cement tank to reach a total length of 6 to 7 cm. During the breeding period, the stocking density should not be too large to avoid mutual cannibalism. The dissolved oxygen should be maintained above 6 mg/L, and a palatable and sufficient amount of zooplankton (mainly cladocerans, red worms, etc.) should be fed. After the total length is 6 to 7 cm, it is placed in a pond for breeding. The pond area should be 3 to 5 mu, the water depth should be 1.5 to 2 meters, and the drainage and irrigation should be convenient. Each pond is equipped with a 1.5 kW aerator.

Before stocking, drain the pond water and disinfect it with quicklime, using 300~400 kg per mu, to kill miscellaneous fish, aquatic plants, pathogens and pests. The growth temperature can be 14~26℃, and the most suitable temperature is 20~24℃. One week before stocking, fertilize and cultivate good water quality, using green manure or manure. After 3 days, spread soybean milk residue, using 5kg/mu to promote the reproduction of cladocerans. Before stocking, it is best to use a water splash net to catch the fish again to remove tadpoles and debris. When stocking, the temperature difference between the water in the fish pond and the water in the fish container should not exceed ±1℃, and the operation should be carried out in the evening.

Fish farming

When the spoonbill grows to 15 cm, it can be raised as adult fish in larger waters. Large water bodies such as ponds, reservoirs and lakes have sufficient dissolved oxygen and low water temperatures in summer, which are most suitable for breeding spoonbill sturgeons. About 5 are released per acre, and commercial fish weighing 2 kg can be caught each year. The keys to successful fish farming in lakes and reservoirs are: (i) Build fish interception facilities to prevent the released spoonbill sturgeons from escaping; (ii) Regularly remove ferocious fish to reduce the loss of spoonbill sturgeons; (iii) Determine the appropriate stocking density, and determine the appropriate stocking number of spoonbill sturgeons based on the number of zooplankton in lakes and reservoirs and the growth of existing bighead carp.

Disease control

The juveniles of the spoonbill sturgeon are prone to enteritis, stomatitis, furunculosis, and water mold. As long as the right medicine is used, it can be cured. Fish of 10 to 15 cm in size are generally not easy to rot. The spoonbill sturgeon is very sensitive to drugs, especially heavy metal salt drugs, so be cautious when using drugs. When the wheelworm is parasitic, use 15% to 25% concentration of formalin to kill it or use 25 to 35 kg of fresh neem branches and leaves to tie them into bundles when the water surface is 1.5 meters deep per acre, soak them at the water inlet of the pool for 4 to 5 days, and change them for 2 times in a row; when nematodes or trematodes are parasitic, 2g/m3 of formalin can be used for bathing. CuSO4 and chloride-containing substances are prohibited in the juvenile stage.

The first point is that cultivating textiles is actually very simple. You just need to find a good temperature zone and then cultivate them. The best way to prevent and control diseases is to spray pesticides regularly.

When the water temperature can continue to reach above 15, artificial induction of spawning can be carried out. Artificial breeding. How to prevent and control diseases: When wheelworms are parasitic in large numbers, 15% to 25% formalin can be used to kill them; when parasites are found, 2g/m3 potassium permanganate can be used.

You need to pay attention to the water and maintain good water quality. You must also pay attention to the temperature, trying to keep it around 20℃, so that you can better prevent it.
