CATDOLL: Is it an infection if the Koi opens its mouth too fast?

1. Is it an infection if the koi opens its mouth too quickly?

Koi open their mouths very quickly, not because of infection, but because of lack of oxygen in the water. Oxygen needs to be increased. Grind Phellodendron, Coptis chinensis, Astragalus membranaceus, and Sophora flavescens into powder every seven days and mix it with food to feed koi to prevent diseases.

2. Koi fish gather in groups, rub against the tank, or stay still, or turn over and jump upwards. I have added trichlorfon twice, with a 2-day interval in between. The water is always running to filter and supply oxygen.

Check the type of parasites. Trichlorfon is ineffective against protozoa (such as Ichthyophthirius punctatus and Trichodina trichodina).

It should be a parasitic disease. Grind up Sophora flavescens into powder and mix it with food for three days to drive out the worms. You can also buy internal expelling medicine!

3. What disease does this fish have and how to treat it?

The koi fish must have been infected with an external parasite.

You can first soak it in potassium permanganate for ten minutes to disinfect and sterilize.

Grind Sophora flavescens, Phellodendron chinense, Coptis chinensis, and Astragalus membranaceus into powder, mix it with food, and feed it for three days.

4. The fish lost its scales and died. What happened? What disease did it have?

Pine scale disease:

[Symptoms] The symptoms of the diseased fish are characterized by a rough body surface, and most of the scales at the tail are spread out like pine cones, while the scale sac at the base of the scale is edematous, and translucent or bloody exudate accumulates inside, causing the scales to stand up. When a little pressure is applied to the scales, the liquid will spray out from the scale sac, and the scales will fall off, sometimes accompanied by congestion of the fin base and skin surface, protruding eyes, and swollen abdomen. The diseased fish swims slowly, has difficulty breathing, turns sideways, and the abdomen is upward, and dies after 2 to 3 days. The disease is easy to occur when the water quality is not clean, the light is insufficient, the water is lacking oxygen, the water temperature is too high, and when the scales of the fish are scratched. Goldfish and koi often suffer from this disease, which is more prevalent in spring every year. Among tropical ornamental fish, foam-oviparous fish such as the Percichthyidae, Bettas, and Gnaphalidae often suffer from this disease. This disease is difficult to cure. Even after recovery, the color, luster, and body shape are not as good as before.

[Treatment method] The sick fish can be immersed in a tetracycline solution with a concentration of 1/50,000 unit for 1 hour, or bathed in a mixture of 3% sodium chloride solution and 1% sodium bicarbonate solution for 10 minutes; or immersed in chloramphenicol solution, or furazolidone powder plus sulfamethoxazole solution, or gentamicin solution. 1% of the above-mentioned liquids can be diluted into a low dose for spraying, and the effect can be seen after several days of persistence.

Pine scale disease! You didn't explain it in detail, so I'm not sure, but it's probably this. Prevention and treatment methods: Do not hurt the fish when fishing. Adding new water in the early stage of the disease can alleviate the disease. There are many treatment methods:

⑴ Dissolve 1 gram of furacilin in 10 kg of water, bathe the sick fish for about 10 minutes, and use the medicine every other day.

⑵ Use a mixture of 2% salt water, 3% baking soda water and 5% dichlorvos to bathe the fish for about 10 minutes, and bathe several times.

⑶ Bathe the sick fish with a mixture of 5% copper sulfate, 2% ferrous sulfate, and 10% bleaching powder for about 10 minutes each time. In addition, you can also mash a little garlic and add it to the water to soak the sick fish. Soak the medicine liquid with Sophora flavescens in warm water, and then soak the sick fish for about 20 minutes after diluting it with clean water. You can also use the soaking liquid of Artemisia argyi leaves and add it to clean water to soak the sick fish for about 20 minutes each time, and do it several times.
