CATDOLL: How to turn a greenhouse snapping turtle into a cold-water snapping turtle

1. How to turn a greenhouse snapping turtle into a cold water snapping turtle

Put more water and put something slightly higher so that it can stand on its feet and stick its head out to breathe.

2. Will the little alligator snapping turtle die if the water is too cold?

If it's not ice water, it's just that it generally doesn't happen in nature.

If the water temperature is below 15℃, turtles will hibernate.

Turtles should not be completely immersed in water when hibernating, as they are prone to frostbite if the temperature is too low.

3. Will the alligator snapping turtle freeze to death if it is cold and water is released?

Temperatures below 0℃ will freeze the turtle or even kill it, so putting an alligator turtle in water in winter will freeze it to death.

Wintering methods:

1. Spread thick wet sand in the container and cover it with crumpled newspaper. The turtle will burrow into the sand and sleep by itself.

2. Rehydrate once a week and keep the sand and newspaper moist.

3. You can prepare some sand for the hibernating turtle, but if it does not crawl in, do not force it to be buried. For turtles that do not hibernate in the sand, you can put them in shallow water and cover them with a layer of wet cotton yarn to keep them moist and also have a certain degree of insulation effect.

5. For turtles hibernating in the sand, make sure the sand is clean and uncontaminated.

6. Keep the sand moist during hibernation. The turtle may wake up during hibernation, so make sure it does not crawl to a place where you cannot find it after waking up. In addition, turtles that wake up during hibernation must not be fed.
