CATDOLL: The difference between sturgeon and crab

1. Sturgeons and crabs are different species.

(1) Crab: Kingdom Animalia, Phylum Arthropoda, Subphylum Crustacea, Class Molacaceae, Subclass Eumolacaceae, Order Decapoda, Suborder Gastropoda, Order Brachyura. It is a crustacean with a hard shell protecting its body and breathing through gills. In biological taxonomy, it is the same species as shrimp, lobster, and hermit crab.

(2) Acipenser (Linnaeus, 1758) is a genus of fish in the family Acipenseridae in the order Acipenseriformes.

2. The characteristics of sturgeons are not different from those of crabs.

(1) Although crabs are small, they have all the organs. After removing the crab's hard shell, we can find that the crab's body is protected by a layer of shell. These shield-like shells are called carapaces by biologists.

The crab's body is bilaterally symmetrical and can be divided into the forehead, eyes, heart, liver, stomach, intestines, and gills. The two sides of the crab's body are connected by appendages. The appendages on the head are called antennae, which have the functions of touch and smell. Some appendages have mouth functions, which are used to tear food and put it into the mouth.

The crab's thorax has five pairs of appendages, called thoracic legs. The front pair of appendages has strong claws that can be used for foraging, and the remaining four pairs of appendages are the crab's feet. Crabs rely on these four pairs of appendages to move around. Their walking style is unique and interesting, and they mostly walk sideways instead of moving straight forward.

(2) Sturgeon, branchial membrane and branchial septum are separated. About 19 species: 6 species are distributed in China, namely, Chinese sturgeon and Dabry's sturgeon distributed in the Yangtze River, the former is mainly distributed in China, and the latter is endemic to China; Acipenser schrenckii distributed in Heilongjiang; Siberian sturgeon and small-bodied sturgeon distributed in the Irtysh River in Xinjiang, and naked belly sturgeon in the Yili River.

The Chinese sturgeon is named after its native China. It is 1.7-3 meters long and weighs 40-378 kilograms, with the largest individual weighing more than 500 kilograms. It has a fusiform body. Its snout is long and pointed. Its tail is crooked. It has 5 longitudinal rows of large hard scales in the shape of bony plates. The head and dorsal side of the body are usually bluish-gray or brown, the abdomen is white, and all fins are bluish-gray. There is a transition zone between the side plates and the belly plate below the side plates.

3. Sturgeons and crabs have different living habits.

(1) Crabs spend most of their time looking for food. They are not picky eaters and will eat anything they can get their claws on. Small fish and shrimp are their favorites, but some crabs eat seaweed and even dead animals and plants.

Crabs eat other animals, and other animals may also eat crabs. For example, humans regard crabs as delicacies, and water birds also eat crabs. Some fish also like to eat crab legs like humans. When young crabs float in the sea in groups, they may be preyed upon by other marine life. Therefore, crabs lay a lot of eggs when spawning to ensure the survival rate of crabs.

They rely on the mother crab to give birth to the crabs. Each time the mother crab will lay a lot of eggs, the number can reach millions or more. After these eggs hatch in the abdomen of the mother crab, the larvae can separate from the mother and float around with the coastal tide. After several molting, they grow into big-eyed larvae, which molt several more times to grow into young crabs. The appearance of the young crabs is almost the same as that of adult crabs. After several more molting, they become crabs.

(2) Sturgeons enter rivers from the sea and like to gather at river mouths. Mature groups spawn in deep pools and rocky areas on the riverbed in fast-flowing waters in the upper reaches of rivers from October to November. Sexual maturity occurs at 9-25 years old. The number of eggs carried is 475,000 to 1,445,000. The eggs are sinking, oval, gray-green, and sticky. They grow quickly. They mainly feed on animal food and generally stop eating during the spawning period.

The species of this genus are important large economic fish. Acipenser species are characterized by large size, long lifespan, high survival rate of juveniles, and fast growth. They are both ornamental and delicious. The artificial breeding technology of some fish species has matured. They can feed and grow normally in artificial water environments such as fish ponds. The largest individual can reach more than 100 kilograms.

The shape of the Chinese sturgeon is the same as that of the crab, but the color of the Chinese sturgeon is darker, and the taste and nutritional value are unmatched by ordinary crabs. I have heard that the most irritating crab is the hairy crab, followed by the shuttle crab, the three-eyed crab..., and the most smooth, non-irritating and most suitable for children is the Chinese sturgeon. The Chinese sturgeon is mild and very nutritious. People here who need to nourish themselves after being sick will buy it to eat.

The red sturgeon is a type of crab, mainly produced in Fujian.

Red sturgeon has extremely high nutritional value and is beneficial for children's nocturnal urination, elderly people's frequent urination, neurasthenia, physical weakness, anemia, rickets in children, and postpartum and postpartum diseases. Sturgeons like to live in warm and warm waters with moderate salinity and abundant bait in the coastal waters, inland seas, bays, estuaries, and ports. The Minjiang Estuary in our province has a mild climate, where sea and fresh water meet, the water quality is good, and the bait is abundant. The famous red sturgeon is produced in the coastal waters of the Minjiang Estuary. The red sturgeon is large, fat, red, and delicious, with a unique flavor. It is a treasure produced by the sea.
