CATDOLL: How to pair and appreciate racing pigeons

It is said that eyes are windows to the soul. The eyes of super breeders and excellent racing pigeons can speak. Let's talk about the following methods of pigeon eye pairing:

1. Overly bright peach-pink eyes and bright red eyes, commonly known as red eyes, are not easy to pair successfully. You can choose low-saturation chicken yellow eyes or orange eyes, or peach-pink eyes with gravel-like rainbows. The fundus is white, which is an advantage in dark weather. Chicken yellow eyes have good vision penetration in the sun. These two significantly different pigeon eyes complement each other.

2. Use a male pigeon with sharp and bright white eyes, that is, the unique flying eyes of the Janssen pigeon, and mate it with a female pigeon with black spots or black lines in the rainbow (hard × soft) to deepen the pigment of the original white eye mark and make the base color turn purple to produce a balancing effect. Take the Janssen pigeon loft as an example. The color of the pigeon's eyes can be deepened by mating a male pigeon with lavender eyes with a female pigeon with red eyes. The principle is the same.

3. Have a 10# purple-eyed male pigeon and mate it with an orange-red-eyed female pigeon with yellow or green full-round eyes to produce the best genetics. Remember not to choose eyes that are too pink, so as not to suppress the genetic characteristics of violet eyes.

4. Pearl eyes with white and gray are the best for racing pigeons. Rainbow particles are sparsely and densely scattered in the eyes, so they are suitable to be matched with coarse sand red eyes. If the pearl eyes have a dark base and black sand, choose orange-red eyes with a bright halo at the bottom of the eyes.

5. Never mate two light-colored eyes, such as white eyes with white eyes or white eyes with yellow eyes. The resulting young pigeons will have lighter eyes, which is a genetic disadvantage and should be avoided. Also, do not mate two strong full-circle black eyes, otherwise the pupils will become larger and the pigeons will become stupid. Unless they have dominant purple eyes, they can be bred together.

6. Dominant purple eyes have a rainbow as thick as red wine, or there are several concentric circles in the eye mark, and the eye mark is transparent. Compared with other eye marks, it is recessive and can only be obtained by careful selection of pairings and inheritance from previous generations. It is rare to find such a thing. Purple eyes appear most frequently in the Meuleman pigeon family, but crossbreeding is never allowed, otherwise the purple eyes will easily disappear. The mate should choose a full-circle yellow or green eye mark, as both have opaque eye marks which are less ideal. Yellow eyes will make the light blue-purple color appear particularly obvious.

7. Belgian pigeon friends like female pigeons with flower heads and white wings. The eyes of this type of pigeons are usually black or dark, with thick rainbows and wide inner circles. If it is a 10# female pigeon with dark brown eyes, it is a breeding treasure. Paired with a male pigeon with white eyes and good flying performance, it is very likely to become a golden pair that can last for several generations.

8. The inner circle of the eye is wavy wrinkle type and large bottle cap type (referring to the inner line buckle). Most of them are not strong in racing ability. The probability of this feature appearing is very low. It is a super breeding eye and is not easy to produce, but it is not suitable for mutual matching. The inner circle of the eye is good or bad, such as wavy fluctuations. When the pairing is poor, it will lead to genetic termination. The wrinkle type should be matched with the small bead bubble type, the bottle cap type with the thin rope type, the bead bubble type with the concentric circle type, the upright eye mark with the horizontal eye mark, and different types of mutual matching should be used as much as possible. The purpose is to enhance the homing ability and vision of the pigeons.

9. The absolutely recessive yellow-eyed female pigeons can be easily paired with highly compatible male pigeons. They can be mated with black-gray mouse eyes. When breeding young chicks, be sure to keep the yellow-eyed male pigeons. Rainbow fine sand with metallic luster is the best. The mate should be a female pigeon of Max bloodline, coarse sand, black and silver eyes, and full round eyes. This is the pairing method commonly used in Janssen pigeon lofts.

10. The female crimson pigeon has the characteristics of alternating inheritance. Her eyes are distinctly red and white, and her rainbow is in the shape of a ribbon, which is the golden female type. When mated with a male pigeon with red and golden eyes, the resulting crimson pigeon must be a male. The vos series Janssen pigeons are best with thick feathers on the main wings that are slightly rounded at the tip. They have soft hair and thick and full feathers, and are good racing and breeding pigeons.

11. The slate gray pigeons unique to the Janssen system, no matter they have yellow eyes, red eyes, green eyes or purple eyes, are best paired with super cocks to produce good offspring, which have genetics similar to their father pigeons and can be used well.

12. The eyes are on the close line of the mouth, with a reconnaissance circle or irregular serrations that protrude the eye mark. This type of competitor with strong competition ability should be matched with a stable type with a wide inner circle of the eye or a breeding type with a narrow front and wide back eye mark. Both options are ideal.

Judging pigeons is not something that can be expressed in words. Many things are a special feeling for pigeons. That feeling can be said to be very subtle, or even very profound. Things that can be expressed in words are superficial. Many pigeon lovers rely on self-understanding. It depends on whether you have good understanding. You might as well find all the photos of Janssen looking at pigeons. You will find that Janssen has a big move when looking at pigeons, that is, the thumb and index finger must be pinched on the neck. He will not tell anyone this. But the mystery is up to you to understand. There are not many good pigeons, let alone super pigeons, but it depends on whether you know the goods. It is a bit exaggerated to know whether a pigeon is good or not as soon as you pick it up, because there are also weather and human factors and its own conditions that can determine its performance. Below I will only talk about some superficial experiences for your reference.

Many people have mentioned a problem, which is the new and old problems of gold bars, jade claws, broken noses, etc. First of all, the new things refer to the freshness of these terms, and the old refers to the recognition of these terms. It reminds me of the pigeon people in the 1980s. At that time, I was only 17--8 years old, a young man who had just entered the society and didn't know much about pigeons, so I followed the trend and bought gu Nao Man, Fan Su, Qilin Flower, Huang Gang, etc., and followed the trend. Even the masters at that time recognized the appearance. Why? It's easy to sell! ! So what is popular from the 1980s to now? At first, the fire phoenix, slate, and grouper pigeons were hyped as soon as they came out. What was hyped? The original intention was to hype the so-called bloodline in the middle stage and the feather color in the later stage. However, the hype will never stop. After all, there are still a group of middlemen. These people still rely on hype to make a living. The feather color of the fire phoenix, slate, and grouper pigeons is stinky, but those who rely on hype have to make a living. So the topic mentioned at the beginning is the new and old issues such as gold bars, jade claws, broken noses, etc., and the gold bar has a definition. Let's take a look at its definition:

Golden stripe: refers to the ninth or tenth white feather in the pigeon's primary feathers, counting from the inner side of the 10 primary wing feathers. Whether it is raindrop, gray shell or red crimson, the 10 primary wings are generally the same color as the whole body feathers; if the primary wing grows this white feather, it must be a fast pigeon, and it will have outstanding performance in the competition. Although there is no theoretical basis for this at present, it is a fact repeatedly proved in practice and is a consensus among pigeon breeders, so it is called golden stripe.

Those who understand may not want to read on now. After all this talk, there are only two white stripes, which can only be the ninth or tenth white stripe from the inside of the 10 primary wing feathers. Moreover, whether it is raindrop, gray shell or red crimson, its 10 primary wings are generally the same color as the whole body feathers. It is because I, a stubborn person, wrote this to prevent more people from being fooled. Many masters who understand it were so angry that they fainted and had no time to refute.

I personally think that if we judge the quality of a pigeon based on a few white stripes, jade claws, broken noses and other fresh and old external factors, how many good pigeons will be ruined? And how many pigeon lovers will have to add useless pigeons?
