What should I do if my cat’s eyes are tearing and have secretions?

Solutions to cats' tearful eyes and secretions:

1. When a cat shows symptoms of shedding tears, first choose a time to take the cat to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment. After finding out the cause of the cat's tears, symptomatic treatment is given.

2. You can also use a cotton pad soaked in pet-specific cleaning eye drops to wipe around the cat's eyes and clean up all the secretions in the eyes. Check several times a day to ensure a hygienic eye environment. Wash your hands with soap to sterilize before touching the cat. You can also use a sanitary cotton ball dipped in physiological saline and gently wipe around the cat's eyes from the beginning to the end of the eye to clean up the secretions.

3. After cleaning the cat's eyes, apply eye drops or chloramphenicol eye ointment to the corners of the cat's eyes. Hold the cat's head with your hands to prevent the eye drops from flowing out too quickly.

4. In order to prevent cats from scratching their eyes due to eye discomfort, cats need to be fitted with Elizabethan collars to prevent infection caused by improper behavior.

Reasons why cats have tears and secretions in their eyes:

1. If cats eat heavy-tasting and greasy food for a long time, their bodies will not be able to bear it. After consuming too much salt, cats will have problems with their eyes, and symptoms such as tearing and increased secretions will appear.

2. If there is foreign matter in the cat's eyes, such as dust and hair, it may cause tears in the cat's eyes. Usually in this case, no medication is required and the condition can be cured by removing the foreign matter from the cat's eyes.

3. If a cat's eyelashes are too long, the long-term stimulation of the growth of eyelashes to the cat's eyes will cause the cat to shed tears and secretions. In severe cases, tears may appear in the fundus of the eyes.
