CATDOLL : Can cats drink millet porridge?

Can cats drink millet porridge?

Cats can drink millet porridge, but it cannot be used as a staple food, because millet porridge cannot meet the cat's needs for nutrients. Therefore, on weekdays, the owner still needs to feed cats with cat food as the main food and other foods as supplements. Millet porridge is relatively light and has the effects of reducing internal heat and being easy to digest. It is a relatively easy-to-digest food. It is suitable for cats to eat as an auxiliary liquid food when they have gastrointestinal discomfort, gastroenteritis, or just after surgery to reduce the burden on the stomach. But when cooking millet porridge, be careful not to add any spices or seasonings, just cook it with plain water. And the proportion of water should be larger. If it is too thick, it will stick to the teeth and easily form tartar.

Methods for cats to supplement nutrition:

1. Eggs. Eggs are rich in lecithin, which can make cats' hair more shiny and bright. However, cats can only eat cooked egg yolks, and can only eat 2-3 eggs a week at most.

2. Carrots. Carrots contain a lot of carotene, vitamin A and minerals, which are good for the health of cats. Carrots must be cooked before feeding them to cats, and no seasoning can be added, otherwise it will irritate the cat's stomach.

3. Bananas. Bananas are rich in potassium and dietary fiber, which can promote gastrointestinal motility in cats. But they should be eaten in moderation, otherwise they will cause diarrhea, vomiting, etc.

4. Cheese. The calcium and protein in cheese can be easily absorbed by cats, which is beneficial to their growth and development. Cheese is also rich in vitamins and lactic acid bacteria, but try to choose sugar-free goat cheese.

5. Chicken breast. Chicken breast is low in fat and high in protein, which can supplement the nutrition of cats. You can buy some chicken breast and cook it for your cat, or you can buy some freeze-dried snacks made of chicken breast, which is more convenient.
