CATDOLL : Kittens are born motionless

Kittens are born motionless

Reasons why kittens are born motionless:

1. If a newborn kitten is motionless, it is because of lack of oxygen caused by difficult labor or secreted fluid blocking the kitten's throat during the mother cat's delivery process. It does not mean that the kitten is dead.

2. After a cat is born, it may also experience a state of suspended animation. At this time, if the cat's limbs are weak, the mouth and nostrils are filled with mucus, and the mucous membrane is blue-purple, this is because the cat is choked, resulting in uneven breathing, a fast and weak heartbeat, and sometimes gasping.

3. If a newborn kitten does not move, it may be because its physique is very weak, and it may not move at all. It will get better after a while.

What to do if the kitten is born motionless:

1. If a newborn kitten is motionless and there is liquid in its nose and mouth, it will be unable to breathe. At this time, you can wrap the kitten in a towel, turn the cat's head down and force it down, and stop suddenly. This will allow the liquid in the nose to flow out due to inertia. After the liquid is discharged from the body, the kitten will generally resume activity.

2. If the amniotic fluid ruptures and the kitten has not been born yet, the kitten will choke on the amniotic fluid and will stop breathing. At this time, you need to fix the kitten's head and shake it hard to shake the water out of its lungs.

3. You need to quickly wipe the cat's nasal cavity, oral cavity, amniotic fluid and mucus, and dig out the mucus in the mouth to allow the cat to breathe. If the cat still cannot breathe on its own, you can grab the kitten's hind legs with your hands and press rhythmically on the posterior abdominal wall to promote the recovery of heartbeat and breathing, so that the cat can wake up as soon as possible.

4. If the owner cannot handle the situation, take the kitten to the pet hospital for treatment in time.
