How to raise live crabs

A method of breeding crabs to make them live longer is to grow them in a basin or a bathtub.

1. Cultivate in a basin

If the crabs you bought are tied up, you need to untie them and put them in the basin. Be careful not to overlap them, and then add water to the crab's mouth. If the water is too deep, the crab will suffocate and die from lack of oxygen. Then put the crab in a ventilated and cool place. If the plastic basin or bucket is high enough, there is no need to cover it with a lid.

2. Bathtub maintenance

Gently place the fresh crabs in it, and fill it with water that just covers the crabs so that they can breathe when they stand up. Add a small amount of small fish and shrimps to the water according to the required storage time. The crabs can be kept alive for more than 7 days or longer, and the storage survival rate of good quality crabs can reach more than 95%.

Precautions for storing crabs

1. When storing crabs, they must be kept in water. Every time you change the water, do not change all of it. Only change two-thirds at most, because crabs living in waters they are familiar with can make them live longer.

2. After the crabs have been in the water for 2-3 days, be sure to put a small amount of food into them to prevent the crabs from fighting. It is best to choose food with less oil. Never put fat, because fat can easily cause the water to stink and the crab's surface to be greasy, which can lead to the death of the crab.

3. When storing crabs, be sure not to place them in a cool, humid place, such as the bathroom at home, which is most suitable for breeding crabs.

1. When raising crabs at home, you need to use a basin. You can put some fine sand in the basin to form a small platform. The water for raising crabs should not be too deep. The best water depth is that the water steel can immerse the crab shell. You can use tap water for raising crabs, but you have to dry it for a day before you can use it.

2. Crabs can be exposed to the sun appropriately, but not for too long.

3. Crabs are omnivorous animals. If conditions permit, you can feed them red nematodes and egg yolks. Of course, crabs can also eat chicken and duck viscera or small fish and shrimp. At the same time, you should feed them some grass food. Pay attention to the amount of food you eat. You should finish eating within half an hour, otherwise the remaining food will pollute the water for breeding.

4. The feeding intensity of crabs increases or decreases with the change of seasons and water temperature. In summer and autumn, when the water temperature rises above 15℃, the feeding ability of crabs increases, and they should be fed once a day. When the water temperature drops below 15℃, the feeding ability of crabs decreases, and they can be fed every other day or every few days. The best time to feed is around dusk, because crabs are aquatic animals that hide during the day and come out at night.

5. Crabs are social animals. It is best to raise several crabs together, so that the survival rate is higher.

6. Clean the crabs. When cleaning the crabs, hold them with your hands, and then use a toothbrush with some shower gel or soap to clean them, especially in the corners, and hold their feet (don't use too much force) to brush. After the bath, rinse them with water, clean the fish tank, and occasionally sprinkle some salt, mainly to prevent infectious diseases.

7. Crabs are very stubborn when they first arrive in a strange environment. Starve them for a few days, then use tweezers to pick up a delicious food and shake it in front of their mouths. Then you will see them wolfing it down.
