CATDOLL: The duck-billed fish appeared in the Yongjiang River. Did the fishermen in Nanning catch it by accident?

The Yongjiang River is the largest body of water around Nanning. Every day, a large number of fishing enthusiasts go fishing on the banks of the Yongjiang River. The fish caught are mainly tilapia, grass carp, crucian carp and other fish.

However, recently, a fishing enthusiast in Nanning, Master Chen, accidentally caught a strange "duck-billed fish" while fishing in the Yongjiang River, and he didn't know what to do with it...

Is there such a "strange fish" in the Yongjiang River? "...I caught it with a lure, and it's probably more than 1 meter long from head to tail. I've never seen this (fish) in the Yongjiang River before."

The fisherman, Master Chen, was also very surprised. He was a native of Nanning and was familiar with all kinds of wild fish and aquatic creatures in the Yongjiang River, but he had never heard of this kind of fish in the Yongjiang River.

(A black carp was also caught that day)

The strange appearance of this duck-billed fish also attracted many people to come and watch, and they speculated what kind of strange fish it was.

Some people thought it was some kind of "creature", others thought it was a rare "protected fish species" and advised the fisherman to "put it back"...

What kind of fish is this "duck-billed fish" and where did it come from?

It turns out that this is a "swordbone fish". In fact, this strange-looking "duck-billed fish" is not a "mysterious creature" or a protected fish species, but an alien species introduced from abroad for breeding - the spoonbone sturgeon. It is said that it is also commonly known as "swordbone fish" in the southwest (very vivid).

The Chinese sturgeon is an edible sturgeon with tender and crisp meat that is said to be free of any spines. It also grows rapidly, and has quickly become popular in my country's aquaculture market in recent years, with aquaculture industries across the country.

Obviously, the "duck-billed fish" caught by the fisherman Mr. Chen from Nanning in the Yongjiang River was a farmed aquatic fish that accidentally escaped from the aquaculture water surface into the Yongjiang River.

--The spoonbill can grow to a maximum of 100 to 200 kilograms. Although the spoonbill caught by this fisherman is not small in size, it can only be considered as an adult.

The duck-billed fish has appeared in many rivers. Due to the development of aquaculture, in fact, the duck-billed fish (Spoonnose sturgeon) has appeared in many rivers in my country. In the past two years, there have been records of people encountering them in the Pearl River and Yangtze River systems.

Fortunately, the duck-billed fish is mainly herbivorous and is not considered a ferocious alien species, so the ecological harm it causes is relatively small.
