CATDOLL: How to raise snails (the latest snail breeding technology)

1. Pond construction. Snails have strong adaptability and can be raised in many flat rivers, streams, pits, rice fields, ponds, artificial cement pools and other ordinary water bodies in rural areas. The size of the snail pond is usually 1.5-1.6 meters wide and 10-15 meters long. The specific size can be determined according to the terrain. The pond should also be surrounded by ridges with a height of about 50 cm. Inlet and outlet water ports are set at both ends of the pool, and anti-escape nets are installed to prevent snails from escaping. At the same time, some phytoplankton is planted in the middle of the breeding pond to improve the environment.

2. Stocking of snails. Most snails reproduce naturally. They can be collected manually by the riverside, paddy fields, etc., or purchased in the market. Fresh snails with light brown color, thin shells, round bodies and blunt tails should be selected as first-year snails. The stocking time for snails is generally in March. When stocking, it is necessary to avoid hot and hot times. It is suitable for growth in an environment of 15-30℃. The stocking density is usually 100-120 per square meter. At the same time, about 5 summer carp and bighead carp are raised per square meter for the main breeding.

3. Reproduction rules. When the water temperature rises to 15℃ in late spring and early summer, the snails crawl out of their wintering holes and look for food at the bottom of the water to grow. Reproduction begins in April, and July to August is the peak season for snail reproduction. Female snails aged 1 to 2 years can produce 20 to 30 offspring, and female snails aged 4 years or older can produce 40 to 50 offspring. After birth, snails grow rapidly and mature within a year.

4. Feeding management. The food sources of field snails are relatively wide. In nature, field snails usually feed on young aquatic plants or plankton. Farmed field snails can generally be fed with cow dung or chicken manure, which can also promote the growth and reproduction of plankton or aquatic plants in the water, and ultimately indirectly provide more food sources for the growth of field snails. In addition, some vegetables or rotten fruits can be mashed and fed. Of course, most farmers still use wheat bran, soybean meal, and corn flour in a ratio of 6:3:1 as field snail feed. The advantage is that the high protein content of soybean flour can accelerate the growth rate.

5. Market harvest. When catching snails, we adopt the method of catching the big ones and leaving the small ones, and market them in batches. We selectively take the adult snails, keep the young snails, and pay attention to selecting some female snails to achieve natural replanting, so that there is no need to release seedlings in the future. According to their living habits, in the hot summer and autumn seasons, we choose to pick them up on the bamboo branches and grass handles rotating on the shore or in the water in the early morning and at night. After finishing, they can be packed in ordinary bamboo baskets, wooden barrels, etc., or packed in woven bags. As long as they are protected from exposure to the sun and kept moist, they can be loaded and marketed.
