【Origin and main distribution】

It is native to the Yangtze River Basin in China and is distributed in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and parts of the southwest. It is currently widely distributed throughout East Asia, and is also distributed in Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries. The current varieties in Japan are speculated to have been transported from China to Kitakyushu Island more than 2,000 years ago.
