CATDOLL: Can alligator snapping turtles go out in the greenhouse?

1. Can alligator snapping turtles go out in the greenhouse?

Alligator snapping turtles can go out and move around in the greenhouse. In northern my country, they can be raised in a greenhouse. In winter, temperature-maintaining measures should be taken to keep the water temperature at around 28-31°C, such as geothermal water, to increase the growth rate of alligator snapping turtles and increase economic benefits.

The alligator snapping turtle is one of the largest freshwater turtles in the world and the largest freshwater turtle in North America. It mainly lives in waters in the southern United States.

2. Can a 10 cm greenhouse alligator turtle be raised?

Yes. A 10 cm greenhouse alligator turtle can be raised back to its original state. The alligator turtle has a strong ability to survive and adapt to the environment. You just need to control its diet and ensure that the water quality is not a problem.

3. Are alligator turtles afraid of the cold?

It is very simple to raise alligator turtles. Because alligator turtles have strong adaptability to the environment, they can live normally in an environment of 2-38 degrees Celsius. They are not afraid of cold in summer and winter. Therefore, the success rate of breeding alligator turtles is also quite high. Of course, raising alligator turtles is not something you can do casually. The breeding process still requires mastering certain methods and techniques.

Whether you are raising a large or small alligator turtle, you must first prepare a spacious and comfortable living environment for it. You need to change the water regularly, disinfect the large pool where the alligator turtle is raised, maintain a healthy and hygienic breeding environment, and prevent the alligator turtle from contracting diseases.

In addition, the breeder needs to prepare healthy and appropriate food for the alligator turtle according to its living habits and dietary characteristics. The alligator turtle is omnivorous and carnivorous. When it is raised artificially, it can be fed with small fish, shrimp, snails, clams, insects, earthworms, silkworm pupae, maggots, mealworms, various livestock and poultry viscera and scraps, and puffed feed, and then fed with some fresh vegetables, fruits and melons.

Don't be afraid of the cold, in the winter you can get some yellow sand used for construction, it will drill in by itself, and then if you see the yellow sand is too dry, just add a little bit of water.

Alligator turtles are not afraid of cold weather. They are very tolerant of the weather. Compared with other turtles, alligator turtles are more cold-resistant in winter and summer and can safely survive the winter at temperatures above 0 degrees. Even at temperatures as low as -2 degrees, alligator turtles will not die within 7 days. At the same time, you can move outdoor turtles indoors for the winter. If conditions permit, you can also put alligator turtles in a greenhouse for heating. This way, the turtles can avoid hibernation and grow much faster than those raised outdoors.

Alligator snapping turtles are tropical reptiles, so the water temperature should not be too low, 20 to 30 degrees is appropriate. The temperature especially needs to be maintained for small turtles. Individual turtles larger than 20 centimeters do not need to be heated, as they will enter hibernation as soon as the temperature drops below 15 degrees.

Not afraid at all, 1 degree is fine - 5 degrees is not fatal. Eating is around 25 degrees. If it is winter in the north, you don't need a heater.

4. How big can a greenhouse alligator turtle grow?

It depends on what you feed them. If you feed them meat, they will grow big. The largest one I have seen weighs 25 kilograms. I feed them meat every day and they are very big.

5. The temperature is about 7-15 degrees now. The alligator snapping turtle has not eaten for 10 days. People say that it will not eat until March or April. I want to know if this is true? ?

Keep in a heated environment. Alligator snapping turtles can live in water temperatures between 3 and 45°C. They are most active at 20 to 30°C, grow fastest at 28 to 31°C, hibernate below 15°C, will not freeze to death under ice in -5°C water, and can safely spend the winter in temperatures above 1°C.

6. How long does it take for an alligator turtle to grow from a greenhouse seedling to a fully grown one? What is the general price?

From seedlings to grown-ups, I don't know what you mean, but the size of a giant alligator turtle is 8-10g at birth, and the average adult size is 61-76cm, 77-91kg, with the largest record of 79cm and 107kg. The size of a giant alligator turtle is about 20cm, and the price is 380-400 yuan;

The size of a medium crocodile turtle is about 10 centimeters and the price is 180 yuan;

The size of a small alligator turtle is about 5-6 cm, and the price is 130 yuan. It is about 40 yuan per kilogram. Alligator turtles grow slowly when they are young. Small alligator turtles grow slowly when they are below 50 grams. It takes about 80 days to grow from 7g to 50g. Under temperature control conditions, it only takes 1 year for a small alligator turtle of about 50 grams to grow to 2500 grams or a young turtle of about 7 grams to grow to 1500 grams on average. After growing to 250 grams, the growth rate accelerates. Under artificial temperature control conditions, it only takes 1 year to grow from 250 grams to 2500 grams. In addition, alligator turtles are sexually mature at the age of twelve.
