The leaves of the potted banyan tree first develop black spots and then slowly wither and fall off. What's going on?

The reasons why banyan trees drop leaves are as follows:

1) Insufficient fat.

Just add fertilizer.

2) Poor ventilation.

You can put it on the balcony to ventilate and let it bathe in the sun.

3) Improper watering. Waterlogging caused by too much water in the basin.

Because the damaged root system cannot recover immediately, of course the leaves will continue to fall. In the future, pay attention to watering thoroughly when it is dry, and let it recover slowly. Don't be impatient. Don't fertilize the roots at this time.

4) Root rot

If there are yellow leaves and they fall off, change the soil and remove the rotten roots.

5) Pests

Please check if there are small insects (red, white, black) on the back of the leaves. Your banyan bonsai may have spider mites (so small that they are almost invisible, you need to look closely), or the leaves are very curled. If there are any of the above situations, it is recommended to buy insecticides (available in bags and bottles) at the flower shop. If someone smokes at home, leave the cigarette butts and soak a dozen cigarette butts in an unused container (with more water). After a day, use the soaking water (cigarette water) to bathe each leaf (once a day). It will be fine after a while.

6) Normal phenomenon (with prerequisites)

When you just move into your home, the leaves will keep falling off within 2 months, but don't worry, new leaves will grow at the same time (very quickly). You don't have to consider moving around, just keep it in one place, and don't worry about watering too much or too little (if the soil is very dry, water it a little more at a time). After 2 months, all the old leaves will be replaced by new leaves, which means that these leaves are grown in the environment of your home, and they will not fall off again. It will continue to grow lushly.

Banyan trees are native to Taiwan. They like outdoor activities, wind and sunbathing. They need to be exposed to sufficient light, preferably a little sunshine for a while. They need to be ventilated. Don't put them in the corner of the bedroom where they will be stuffy. Don't let the air conditioner blow directly at them. They like acidic soil and are not cold-resistant plants. In the northern region, they usually need to be maintained in a greenhouse in winter.

In fact, the easiest way to keep a banyan tree is to water it thoroughly when it is dry, and fertilize it once or twice a year. Although it likes fertilizer, it is better to fertilize less to develop a compact tree shape. However, if it is a banyan tree that is mainly for viewing leaves, such as the weeping fig and the fiddle-leaf fig, it should be fertilized frequently and the pot soil should be kept moist, so that it will grow vigorously, have large and green leaves, and be ornamental.

It is burned by strong light. In summer, it should be placed in scattered light. In addition to watering, water should be sprayed on the leaves and around the plants in the morning and evening to increase air humidity. Apply thin liquid fertilizer once every 10-15 days during the growth period.

I use carbendazim, mancozeb and thiophanate-methyl to kill bacteria in turn.

Carbendazim is good, it is bactericidal

It is leaf spot disease, which can be controlled by spraying carbendazim

How to grow a banyan bonsai tree

Banyan bonsai is one of the most common bonsai trees. It is evergreen and beautiful. It is also easy to maintain and is the first choice for beginners. So, how to grow a good banyan bonsai? Let me tell you how to grow a good banyan bonsai!

How to grow a banyan bonsai tree?

Banyan bonsai should be placed in a sunny, well-ventilated, warm and humid environment. Watering should be done frequently during the growing season, but water should not accumulate in the pot. In the hot summer, proper shade should be provided, and water should be sprinkled on the ground and sprayed on the leaves to cool down and increase the air humidity. Apply a thin liquid fertilizer of decomposed oil cake once a month. Avoid excessive fertilizer and water, otherwise the branches and leaves will grow too long and the beautiful tree posture will be destroyed. Banyan trees are resistant to pruning, have strong germination power, and grow fast. In addition to pruning and twisting in early spring, new branches and long branches should be shortened or cut off according to the requirements of the shape during normal maintenance to maintain the beauty of the tree shape. There are often harms from the fig mother thrips, which make the branches and leaves curl and turn brown. They should be removed and burned in time and sprayed with pesticides for prevention and control. In late autumn and early winter, the banyan bonsai should be moved indoors for wintering, and the room temperature should be kept at around 10℃. The banyan tree can be repotted once every 2 to 3 years or 3 to 4 years depending on the age of the tree and its growth conditions.

It likes acidic soil and is not a cold-resistant plant. In the northern regions, it generally needs to be maintained in a greenhouse in winter.

(1) Humidity and water: Improper watering can cause great harm to banyan trees. You should use the principle of "water when dry and water when wet" according to the condition of the pot soil. Do not water frequently, and make sure to water thoroughly. Excessive watering will cause root rot and cause leaf drop. Banyan trees are difficult to maintain in the north, so families should spray water on the leaves more often to increase the humidity of the air around them.

(2) Temperature: The temperature suitable for the growth of banyan trees should not be too different between day and night (a difference of 10 degrees), otherwise the leaves will fall and the tree will die easily. Usually, it should be placed in a well-lit place, and proper shade should be provided in summer.

(3) Culture soil: Use loose, well-draining leaf mold. The usual ratio is garden soil: humus soil: sand 2:2:1.

It is best to place moss of the same size as the pot on top of the bonsai. This not only makes it look beautiful, but also helps with drainage and ventilation.

(4) Fertilizer: Banyan trees like fertilizer for their growth, but applying fertilizer too often will harm their growth. The amount of fertilizer applied should also vary according to the season. Now is winter, so it is best to apply less fertilizer or no fertilizer.

The fertilizer should be between 0.2% and 0.4% soybean cake water, or chemical fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen fertilizer.

(5) Diseases and pests: Damage or rot to the root system can also cause leaf fall, but it is difficult to detect because the roots grow in the soil. Root rot is common due to long-term non-repotting or improper fertilizer and watering. It is best to check the roots without damaging them and properly trim dead, weak, and injured roots. Apply growth agent before planting in the pot. In addition, the roots of banyan trees are prone to root rot or root nodule caused by various bacteria and fungi, so proper attention should be paid to spraying pesticides for prevention and control.

The main pests of banyan trees are aphids, red spiders, scale insects, etc. Spray the leaves with omethoate 500PPMag or spray with 1000 times solution of 50% parathion wettable powder.

Using 0.1%ag of laundry detergent water or wind oil essence water is also very effective.

(6) Pruning and maintenance: During the peak growth season, the plants should be topped and budded. A major pruning should be done in autumn, and no pruning should be done thereafter, because the plants grow more slowly in winter and it is not suitable to be pruned in winter. Banyan tree pruning should be done by a professional, and the overgrown branches, overlapping branches, weak branches, and crossed branches should be cut off to create a layered beauty.

Banyan trees are typical tropical tree species and a key plant in tropical rainforest ecosystems. They mainly grow in southern provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Yunnan, and Jiangxi in my country. They like light and warmth, but are not cold-tolerant, and can survive the winter when the lowest temperature is above zero degrees. They need to be kept above zero degrees to survive the winter. If the temperature is too low in winter, they must be maintained in a greenhouse. Frost damage will not only cause a large number of leaves to fall, but also cause death. Among them, the ungrafted "Benrong" has better cold resistance.

Banyan tree growth

Banyan bonsai grows fast, has good aerobic properties, is easy to root, has strong resistance, is easy to shape, and has plump tuberous roots.

⑴ Long life, fast growth, can be planted for hundreds of years. According to the Guangxi Forestry Magazine in 1995: "In the fields of Taiping Village, Rong'an County, northern Guangxi, there is a thousand-year-old banyan tree that requires 15 people holding hands to hug. If a seedling banyan tree is planted properly, in about five or six years, the trunk diameter will reach 8 to 10 cm, becoming a banyan bonsai with unique branch support shape and high ornamental value.

⑵ Good aerobicity, easy to root, can form plank-shaped roots. The unique beauty of banyan trees is the beauty of aerial roots, root vines, and tubers. Playing with banyan tree roots is also a high-tech art. It can be made into shapes such as phoenix dancing and coiled dragons.

⑶ The branches are smooth, beautiful and elegant, and are easy to shape, and can show the big in the small. If it can be planted into a natural ancient banyan pile landscape, it will be amazing.

⑷ It is not afraid of the hot sun in midsummer, but also tolerates shade, cold and drought. It can be without water for three or five days without any problem, and can also endure hunger, especially the tuberous banyan tree, which can still grow tenaciously without water or fertilizer for eight or ten days, or even a month.

5. Water. After it grows and survives, it can be watered three or four times a day. Even if water accumulates in the pot during the rainy season, it will not affect its growth.
