How effective is maggot farming for pigs?

Maggots bred by wild flies can be fed to pigs. Because maggots bred by flies are very nutritious, they can improve the pigs' immune function and grow faster. However, you can't feed them all, you can only feed them as feed.

The nutritional composition of fly maggots is relatively comprehensive, containing 17 kinds of amino acids required by animals. The total amount of essential amino acids in fly maggots and their dry powder is 44.09% and 43.83% respectively. The methionine content is similar to that of fish meal, and the cystine content is low. Fly maggot powder contains chitin, antimicrobial peptides and other immune-enhancing substances, which can improve the animal's own immunity. It also contains a variety of trace elements, such as iron, zinc, manganese, phosphorus, cobalt, chromium, nickel, boron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper, selenium, germanium, etc. A large number of experiments and production practices have shown that fly maggots are excellent animal protein feeds that can replace fish meal.

Fly maggots can grow well in dirty feces and garbage, indicating that they have a complete antibacterial mechanism. It is generally believed that antimicrobial peptides are the weapon of fly maggots to resist pathogenic microorganisms. The author's experiment shows that feeding chickens with fly maggots and fly maggot culture waste has a good effect on increasing egg production and reducing morbidity. Preliminary experiments show that antibacterial substances can be released not only in the body but also into the environment. Feeding animals with feed (such as fly maggots) instead of antibiotics and other drugs has great potential in animal husbandry.

What percentage of feed is fed?

I can give you an example of feeding pigs. For example, on the basis of the basic diet, use 0.5 kg of cereal powder, 0.5 kg of corn fiber solution, 0.5 kg of green vegetables, and add about 25 grams of wild goshawk maggots.

Note:

When using maggots bred by wild flies to feed pigs, you need to be careful to strictly prevent bacterial infection. Never use pig manure produced by pig farming to feed wild fly maggots. You can use wheat bran and pig manure together, but you must ensure that there are no pathogens before sterilization.
