CATDOLL: Snail Egg Hatching Tutorial

1. Snail Egg Hatching Tutorial

Snail egg hatching tutorial is as follows:

1. Soak the wooden box for hatching in water for 2 hours to allow it to absorb enough moisture, then add moist fine soil into the wooden box, smooth it out to a thickness of about 3 cm, then spray an appropriate amount of water until it is moist.

2. Sprinkle snail eggs with soil (10-15 nests, 1500-2250 snail eggs) evenly on the soil, leaving more than 3 cm of space around. Then spread the film on top of the soil and press it firmly around to prevent moisture from evaporating outwards, so as to achieve the purpose of moisturizing.

3. Then stack them in layers and keep the indoor temperature between 28-32 degrees.

4. After a week, the baby snails will hatch out of their shells one after another. Wait until the baby snails have eaten their own eggshells and the color of their shells has changed from white to dark before you can start feeding them.

Snail egg hatching conditions

In order to ensure the normal hatching of snail eggs and the healthy growth of young snails, the following three conditions must be met: first, the ambient temperature is maintained between 25-35 degrees, and the optimal temperature is controlled at 28-32 degrees; second, the breeding soil is always kept moist.

Third, snail eggs must be bred from healthy, disease-free, high-quality seedlings (although snail eggs laid by snails that are sensitive to bacteria can hatch into baby snails, they will cause the baby snails to refuse to eat their first feed or go on a collective hunger strike after 3-4 days, and all of them will die in about 10 days. Once this happens, the snail seedlings and baby snails should be eliminated in time to avoid wasting financial resources).

2. How to hatch snail eggs How to hatch snail eggs

1. If you want to hatch snail eggs, you can prepare a container first. You can use a cut plastic bottle or a small wooden box.

2. Put moist river sand inside, about 1 cm thick, put the snail eggs on the river sand, and then cover it with river sand. Cover the container with fresh-keeping film. The surrounding temperature should be maintained at 25 degrees Celsius.

3. How to hatch snail eggs

Snail eggs are difficult to hatch and have a low success rate. Soil-covering hatching and cloth-covering hatching methods can be used for hatching. The process of soil-covering hatching is to first fill a wooden box with 10 cm thick sand, and keep the humidity at 30% to 40%. Then spread the snails evenly on the sand, and then cover them with a layer of 1.5 cm thick sand. Keep the sand moist at all times, and wait for 7 to 15 days for the young snails to hatch.

4. How do snails reproduce?

Heterologous fertilization.

Snails mainly reproduce through hermaphroditism and allozoan fertilization. Snails are the most common molluscs on land and have high edible and medicinal value. Snails can usually reproduce all year round, usually once every three months. After the snails reproduce, they usually lay eggs in about one day.

Snails are hermaphrodites, and they mate with each other and ejaculate with each other to reproduce. Their own eggs and sperm from other bodies combine to form fertilized eggs. They start to lay eggs 10-15 days after mating. After the eggs hatch, they are raised for about 6 months and become sexually mature and have reproductive ability when they weigh more than 40 grams.

It can reproduce 3-4 generations in a year; if it is heated indoors in winter to break hibernation, it can lay eggs up to 6 times a year. The eggs are white or light yellow, spherical, the size of white pepper, and have a limestone shell. The life span of a snail is generally 5-6 years, and a few long-lived ones can live up to 9 years. An adult snail lays about 50-80 eggs for the first time, and then gradually increases. In the second year, the weight can reach 70-90 grams and the egg production is 700-800. In the third year, the weight can reach 90-120 grams, and the egg production is more than 1,000 eggs. After that, the annual egg production gradually decreases.

Before giving birth, snails will burrow into the 6-cm-deep soil layer and lay their eggs in the soil. In order to increase the hatching rate of the eggs, the eggs should be collected and incubated in a separate basin or wooden box. The bottom of the basin is covered with 6-cm thick mixed soil, and the eggs are placed. The top is covered with 6-cm thick concrete, and then covered with wet sacks. Water is sprayed on the covering 1-2 times a day.

A basin with a diameter of 40 cm can hold 3,000-4,000 eggs. The eggs will hatch into young snails after 5-10 days. They will remain in the soil for a few days and then gradually drill into the surface of the soil to feed. At this time, the unearthed snails should be moved to the breeding box in time for breeding.

Snails are hermaphrodites, and they mate in spring. They can reproduce all year round in artificial breeding as long as the temperature and humidity are suitable. It usually takes 6 months from hatching to sexual maturity. They can lay eggs 15 to 20 days after mating and fertilization, and lay the eggs in caves. The eggs are the size of mung beans, covered with a layer of shiny white membrane. Each time, 100 to 200 eggs are laid, and baby snails can be hatched in 8 to 15 days. The lifespan is generally 5 to 6 years.
