CATDOLL: Where should the introduction of a dissertation be placed? Before the abstract or after the table of contents?

Write the abstract first, then the preface. The abstract is the essence of the entire paper. It is a summary of a scientific research work or technical practice, and a summary of the research purpose, methods and results.

The abstract is placed before the main body of the paper. Its purpose is to let readers first understand the content of the paper so that they can decide whether to read the full text. Generally speaking, this kind of abstract is written after the full text is completed.

The word limit is between 100 and 150 words, and the content should include the purpose, methods, results and main conclusions of the research. In other words, the abstract must answer questions such as "what to study", "how to study", "what results were obtained", and "what do the results show".

Citation Notes

In order to achieve clear levels and context, the main body of the text is often divided into several large paragraphs. These paragraphs are called logical paragraphs. A logical paragraph can contain several small logical paragraphs, and a small logical paragraph can contain one or several natural paragraphs, so that the main body forms several levels. The level of the paper should not be too many, generally not more than five levels.

In order to reflect the scientific basis of the article, the author's serious attitude of respecting the research results of others, and to provide readers with the source of relevant information, a reference list should generally be listed after the main text.

Citations should be based on original documents and first-hand information. All quotations of other people's opinions or texts, whether published or not, whether in paper or electronic form, must indicate the source or be annotated.
