CATDOLL: What are those sesame-like insect eggs?

1. What are the sesame-like eggs?

The sesame-like eggs are fly eggs. Fly eggs, usually housefly eggs, are a form of the fly life cycle. They are generally milky white, banana-shaped or oval, about 1 mm long, with two ridges on the back of the eggshell. The membrane between the ridges is the thinnest, and the larvae will drill out from here when hatching.

The development time of eggs is 8-24 hours, which is related to the ambient temperature and humidity. Eggs will not develop below 13°C, and will die below 8°C or above 42°C. Within the following range, the incubation time of eggs shortens as the temperature rises: 20 hours at 22°C; 16-18 hours at 25°C; 14 hours at 28°C; and only 8-10 hours at 35°C. The humidity of the growth medium also affects the hatching rate of eggs: the hatching rate is highest when the relative humidity is 75%-80%; the hatching rate is significantly reduced when it is below 65% or above 85%.

2. I bought some pork from a supermarket and marinated it with salt overnight. The next day, I found a bunch of yellow insect eggs on the meat. What are they? Will I get sick if I eat them by mistake?

If this happens, it is usually caused by bacterial growth and fly eggs. It is definitely not edible and should be thrown away directly. Otherwise, you may get diarrhea. If you feel uncomfortable, you need to see a doctor.

How to store pork:

Cook the meat and put it into freshly boiled lard while it is still hot. It can be stored for a long time. Alternatively, cut the meat into 1 cm thick slices, scald it with boiling water, apply appropriate amount of salt after it cools down, put it into a container, seal it with gauze, and place it in a ventilated and cool place. It can be stored for 15 to 20 days on hot days. Note that if you need to store pork for a long time, it is best to wrap it in a double-layer plastic bag or aluminum foil before freezing it. It can be stored for 3 months to 6 months. If it is already cooked pork, it should be packaged for storage. It is best to soak the meat in gravy while freezing it, otherwise the moisture in the meat will disappear and it will become dry and hard.

In hot weather, meat can easily go bad. Salting is useless. If you don't put it in the refrigerator, no matter you cook it or salt it, bacteria will grow on it within 5 hours. The most common thing is that flies have laid eggs on it. Use your nose to ask if there is any peculiar smell! If the meat still has no peculiar smell, it is fine to eat it after washing it and cooking it at high temperature. Of course, the premise is that you don't feel sick when thinking about the pile of fly eggs. It is also possible that the yellow particles may be exudate, or nitrite particles.
