CATDOLL: Forecast of the prospects for earthworm farming (Forecast report on the prospects for earthworm farming)

1. What is the market value and prospects of earthworms?

Value and prospects:

Earthworms are rich in protein, so they have high economic value. Farmers can provide feed protein for other farming industries by raising earthworms. Moreover, earthworm feces are organic fertilizers, which are beneficial to the development of ecological agriculture. At the same time, earthworms themselves have high medicinal value and are used in health products, feed, fertilizers, medicines and cosmetics. There is a high degree of in-depth research and development potential, and the market prospects are broad.

2. What is the prospect of raising earthworms and are the benefits significant?

Breeding earthworms is nothing new. It is a niche field and it is difficult to make money from breeding. First of all, you need to have a deep understanding of it. Earthworms have many uses and many universities and scientific research institutes are conducting research on them. You can contact them to learn more about it.

3. What is the prospect of raising earthworms and are the benefits significant?

Raising earthworms has a good prospect and considerable benefits. Earthworms have a wide range of applications and sales. Earthworms have high medicinal value and can be used as medicine. Some health food companies will purchase earthworms as high-quality raw materials. In addition to being used as bait and feed, earthworm feces can also be used to feed lower animals.

Many garbage disposal centers, pharmaceutical companies, and food companies are purchasing earthworms in large quantities because earthworms contain a kind of hydrolytic protease that has anticoagulant and thrombolytic effects, and is one of the rare raw materials for drugs for treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in middle-aged and elderly people.

Although the initial investment in earthworm farming is higher than that of other agricultural and sideline product cultivation, its returns are also high. The market price has been steadily rising. The purchase price has increased by an average of 12% for three consecutive years. It is basically unaffected by the weather, and the risk of later sales is relatively small.

At the same time, earthworm feces is also particularly high-quality farm fertilizer. In addition, earthworms reproduce relatively quickly, reproducing a generation every two months. In a year, the reproduction amount of earthworms will increase by more than 1,000 times.

4. What are the prospects and sales of earthworm farming in 2021?

1. Breeding prospects

The market prospect of earthworm farming is very broad, mainly for three reasons. First, earthworms are the best protein feed, which can be used to raise aquatic products such as loach and yellow eel, and livestock such as pigs, chickens and ducks; second, earthworms are rich in earthworms, earthworm toxins, yellow chayin, antihistamines, choline, etc., which can be used in the pharmaceutical processing industry; third, earthworms are rich in nutrients such as protein, amino acids, fats, minerals, vitamins, etc., which meet the modern people's pursuit of food nutrition. There is no problem with sales, and there are special people to purchase them on site.

5. What are the prospects and profit analysis of earthworm farming?

The actual profit of one mu of green earthworms is about 15,000 yuan, and the breeding prospects are very promising. Green earthworms are a kind of animal feed rich in protein, easy to breed and high in yield, so they can be bred according to local conditions and locally, such as sludge, livestock feces, etc.

Earthworms have a wide range of uses. They can not only improve soil and purify the environment, but also provide protein for livestock and poultry. They can also be made into traditional Chinese medicine to treat corresponding diseases. Although these uses of earthworms have been known for a long time, large-scale earthworm farming has not been around for long.

6. How about earthworm farming? What are the prospects? How much investment is required?

In recent years, earthworm farming in my country has developed rapidly. At present, more than 600 counties, more than 50,000 units and farmers have carried out earthworm farming. However, the economic benefits created by most earthworm farmers in my country are not satisfactory. Many farmers, especially small farmers, feel that it is difficult to obtain good economic benefits from earthworm farming. Our editorial department also often receives letters and calls from friends who are farming or preparing to farm earthworms to inquire about the feasibility of earthworm farming and what conditions should be met to improve the economic benefits of earthworm farming. For this reason, we asked experts to make a comprehensive discussion on earthworm farming technology.

With the continuous development of my country's breeding industry, how to improve the economic benefits of breeding industry has attracted more and more attention. Many farmers encounter the difficult situation of high production costs and low market prices in breeding; the large amount of animal manure produced in breeding cannot be treated, causing serious pollution to the environment; a large amount of straw is burned, which not only wastes resources but also seriously pollutes the atmospheric environment. Breeding earthworms is very useful in solving the above problems. Because not only are earthworms themselves high-quality and inexpensive protein feeds, but earthworm manure is also a rare feed additive; using animal manure and straw to breed earthworms not only enriches earthworm breeding materials, but is also a more effective means of value-added and the most environmentally friendly measure. Since the development prospects of earthworm breeding in my country are so broad, why is it so difficult for earthworm breeding to obtain better economic benefits? The main factors are as follows:

1. Small scale and loose management. Most of the earthworm farming in my country is done by small families with a scale of dozens of square meters. Due to the small scale, it is impossible to obtain a stable output every day for external sales and can only be used for self-use.

Second, the breeding technology is backward, the species is degenerated, and the yield is low. Most earthworm breeders still use the traditional old breeding method, that is, the mixed breeding of large and small earthworms. The result is: earthworms are inbred and the species is seriously degenerated. Earthworms are lower animals and are very prone to genetic mutation. Although earthworms are hermaphrodites, they need to mate with different species to reproduce. This method of mixed breeding of large and small earthworms cannot avoid inbreeding of earthworms at all.

3. Single purpose and low efficiency. Most earthworm farms (households) produce earthworms only for animal feed. Since the output of earthworms (ton of manure output) is relatively low, it is not very ideal to rely solely on earthworm feeding to obtain economic benefits. For example, 1 ton of manure from cultivated earthworms can generally produce 20 kilograms of fresh earthworms. If it is used to feed economic animals, it must be fed with economic animals with higher economic value to have better economic benefits (such as special aquatic products with higher economic value, such as mandarin fish, yellow eel, turtle, etc.). The fresh earthworms on the market are generally sold at 8 to 16 yuan per kilogram, and are mainly sold to special aquatic farmers. Earthworm farmers often don’t know that the main economic income from earthworm farming is not earthworms, but earthworm manure. The economic benefits of earthworm manure in large earthworm farms are more than 1.5 times that of earthworms.

In view of the above factors, in order to achieve better economic benefits in earthworm farming, the author puts forward the following suggestions for reference:

1. Expand the scale of breeding. The breeding of earthworms must reach a certain scale, at least 300 square meters.

Second, reintroduce high-quality earthworm species. The best species for breeding are Daping No. 2, Beixing No. 2, and a combination of Daping No. 2 and Beixing No.

A new variety of hybridization of No. 2 (currently called Daping No. 3). The first introduction should be at least 30,000. If the number is too small, the earthworms cannot be purified and rejuvenated, and they will degenerate after a short period of breeding. Strictly grade the earthworms for breeding and purification to prevent inbreeding. Provide the earthworms with enough feed and harvest them in time.

3. Comprehensive utilization, develop multiple utilization methods. If the cultivated mature commercial earthworms are used as animal feed, it is best to use them for special aquaculture with high economic value. Although it can reduce the breeding cost by raising ordinary economic animals, it is a waste of resources. It can also be sold to special aquaculture farms (households), which are easy to sell at about 8 yuan per kilogram; if it is sold to flower and bird markets or anglers, it can be sold for 60 yuan per kilogram (3 yuan per tael). In some places where there are many anglers, 10 to 20 kilograms can be sold every day. When breeding earthworms, you must make full use of earthworm manure. The Guangxi Quanzhou County Biotechnology Development Experimental Field adds 5% to 20% earthworm manure to the feed of chickens, ducks, pigs, etc., which not only reduces the cost by more than 10%, but also improves the meat quality of the livestock and poultry raised, and no bad effects on animals are found. If rural farmers have this kind of large amount of cheap feed to effectively reduce costs in breeding, wouldn’t it be easy to get out of the dilemma of low efficiency? Because earthworm manure contains extremely high nutrients that can be absorbed by animals, some feed mills that understand the value of earthworm manure also purchase it, and the purchase price is generally around 300 yuan per ton. Earthworm manure is also a high-quality organic fertilizer. It not only has high fertilizer efficiency, but also has deodorizing function. It is needed in large quantities by gardening farms, flower companies, greening companies, etc. in cities. Each ton of earthworm manure can be sold for at least 200 yuan.

We can calculate the economic benefits of this method of breeding and utilizing earthworms. Take the example of processing 1 ton of cow dung to produce earthworms every day. If the cost of purchasing 1 ton of cow dung is 60 yuan, 20 kilograms of fresh earthworms and 0.6 tons of earthworm manure can be produced. Fresh earthworms and earthworm manure are all sold at the lowest price. The total output value is: 20 kilograms of earthworms × 8 yuan = 160 yuan, 0.6 tons of earthworm manure × 200 yuan = 120 yuan, a total of 280 yuan, minus the cost of 80 yuan (60 yuan for cow dung + 20 yuan for other expenses), the net profit is 200 yuan. This is still the most conservative calculation. If earthworms are used to raise special aquatic products with higher economic value and earthworm manure is used to replace feed, the economic benefits will be even more considerable.
