CATDOLL: The Uses and Applications of Raising Snails (The Differences between the Uses and Applications of Raising Snails)

1. What is the use of raising snails?

Snails have high nutritional value, low cost, and a variety of uses. They can be made into food, health products, and skin care products, with high economic benefits.

2. What are the benefits of raising snails?

Snail is a high-protein, low-fat food. 100 grams of snail meat usually contains 18 grams of protein, 5 grams of fat, and 7 grams of carbohydrates. In addition, snail meat also contains rich amino acids, calcium, alkaloids, phenols, lactone, coumarin, organic acids, vitamins and other substances.

As feed: The digestive enzymes in snails can promote the decomposition and conversion of feed by livestock.

As decoration: snail shells can be processed into various shell carvings.

3. Is it okay to raise snails in a building?

Can.

1. Snails can be kept at home. They can be kept in buildings.

2. When raising snails, it is best to put them in a plastic container at home. The plastic container should be breathable. If there is no breathable container, the owner can use scissors to cut a few small holes at the bottom of the container to make it breathable.

When the container is ready, you need to find the right soil. Because snails live in the soil, especially in winter when the temperature is very low, the soil you choose should have a certain temperature, so that the snails can feel safe. The soil can be ordinary soil, but it is best to choose coconut soil instead of sand, which is not suitable for snails to survive.

4. What are the main uses of snail farming?

For food: Snail is a high-protein, low-fat food.

5. What is the use of raising snails?

Farmed snails have edible, medicinal and health-care value. Outdoor open-type snail farming models include trench, shed, and courtyard, allowing them to grow and reproduce in a protective circle similar to natural conditions; indoor artificial snail farming should choose a leeward open space, use bamboo or steel bars to build a 20-meter, 3-meter-wide, and 2-meter-high breeding shed, and cover the shed with plastic film.

6. Can you keep snails as pets? How should you keep them?

Snails can be kept in open areas such as courtyards, ditches, and haystacks, or in containers such as earthen pots, pottery bowls, porcelain jars, wooden boxes, plastic boxes, and barrels. However, if you want to keep a small number of snails for the purpose of viewing, it is more appropriate to use transparent plastic tanks, boxes, or plexiglass boxes. Two small water tanks should be placed in the box, and it is generally more appropriate to keep about 10 snails.

It is better to have a larger box, because 6 to 8 cm thick breeding soil needs to be placed in the box as a habitat for the snails.

The breeding soil can be made of garden soil, sandy soil, yellow sand, cinder ash, and stone powder. Mix it in the ratio of 3:3:2:1:5:0.5 and expose it to the sun for several days for disinfection. Then add water and the humidity reaches 40%. However, it needs to be replaced once after 1 to 2 months of breeding.

It is advisable to start raising young snails. One-month-old snails can be fed with fresh cucumbers, apples, tender cabbage and green leaves once a day. The temperature should be controlled at 25-30 degrees, and the feeding amount should be about 1/10 of the snail's body weight.

In winter, the temperature drops, the soil should be appropriately thickened, and a thicker layer of fallen leaves and cotton wool should be placed in the box to keep warm. When the temperature drops to about 10 degrees, air conditioning or light bulbs should be used around the box to keep warm, but the light bulbs should be covered with black cloth to prevent strong light exposure. If you burn coal stoves indoors, move the breeding box to another place to avoid carbon monoxide fumigation, otherwise the snails will be poisoned.

Keep the box clean and hygienic, remove residual food, feces and other dirt every day, and wash the food bowl. Cover the top of the box with a wire mesh lid to provide adequate ventilation, and prevent damage from natural enemies such as rats and mosquitoes, especially its biggest natural enemy - mites. Disinfect the breeding environment with diluted peracetic acid every week.

Snails need moisture the most and are most afraid of dryness. If the box is relatively dry, it is very important to spray water into the box.

7. What can snails be used for?

Snails can be used for food and medicine, and are of high value. They are nutritious, delicious, and are high-protein, low-fat, low-cholesterol, and high-grade nutritional tonics rich in more than 20 kinds of amino acids.

Snails are terrestrial molluscs belonging to the class Gastropoda. There are many species of snails all over the world. According to relevant data, there are 40,000 species of snails all over the world. Snails are distributed in all provinces and regions of my country, living in forests, shrubs, orchards, vegetable gardens, farmlands, parks, gardens, temples, mountains, plains, hills and other places. However, there are very few species that are worth raising and eating. As a high-protein, low-fat, high-quality food and animal protein feed for humans, snails are increasingly valued by people.

8. What are the pros and cons of raising snails?

Advantages: Snail farming is profitable and has low labor intensity. It can be farmed professionally or as an amateur, and is very suitable for family farming.

Disadvantages: Snails are omnivorous animals. They mainly feed on decaying plants when they are young, but they mainly feed on green plants when they are adults. They harm the roots, stems, leaves, and fruits of various plants, especially the tender leaves of plants. After the leaves of garden plants are eaten by snails, a large number of holes are formed, which causes the photosynthesis to decrease and creates favorable conditions for the infection of pathogens. In addition, the excrement and mucus secreted during the chewing process contaminate the plants, seriously affecting the ornamental quality of garden plants.

9. What is the purpose of keeping snails in fish tanks?

Snails can be placed in fish tanks. A small number of snails can help clean some algae on the surface of aquatic plants and the walls of the tank, but not too many. They have strong reproductive abilities and will be difficult to remove if there are too many of them, causing harm to the fish and aquatic plants.

Although snails can remove algae, their reproductive capacity is too strong. It does not take too much time for them to fill the entire fish tank. Not only will they occupy the living space of the fish, but some may even endanger the health of the fish.

10. Is it good to keep snails in a fish tank?

not good

Snails cannot be kept in a fish tank with fish. They can be kept in an empty fish tank.

A fish tank is a water tank for holding live fish. The tank body is transparent and is mostly made of glass. It can also be used to raise tropical fish or goldfish for ornamental purposes.

Snails refer to all terrestrial species of the gastropod class. They like to live in dark, humid, loose and humus-rich environments. They hide during the day and come out at night. They are most afraid of direct sunlight and are sensitive to the environment. Snails like humidity but are afraid of flooding. In humid nights, snails have an active appetite. However, flooding can suffocate snails to death. Therefore, snails cannot be kept in fish tanks with water and fish.
