Hairtail is the most common fish in the sea. Hairtail is a carnivorous fish with poor swimming ability. It often floats in the middle layer of the seawater during the day and sinks to the bottom of the sea at night. It has a very unique shape and a very long body, almost more than one meter in length. Hairtail is quite ferocious in the sea, mainly eating shrimp and squid. Hairtail is mainly distributed in the western Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, and is also distributed in the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea in China. Hairtail is very popular in China and is often made into delicious dishes on the table.

The hairtails that can be bought on the market now are not artificially farmed, but mainly caught near the coast. Currently, my country's hairtails mainly come from Zhoushan fishery.

Hairtail is a migratory fish. According to changes in water temperature, it migrates thousands of miles every year, swimming between nearshore and offshore waters, and between the East China Sea in the south and the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea in the north. It is extremely difficult for it to survive in small ponds or smaller sea areas. It is impossible to provide such a migratory environment artificially, so there is currently no artificial breeding of hairtail.

Reasons why hairtail cannot be artificially cultured:

1. First of all, hairtail is a deep-sea fish that lives in the sea 30 to 200 meters underwater. It is resistant to high temperatures. Once the hairtail is fished out, it will die due to the bursting of its swim bladder due to the change in seawater pressure. This is why the hairtail you see are dead fish with broken stomachs. The depth of the shallow sea water in the fishermen's area cannot meet the negative pressure requirements for the survival of hairtail, so no one breeds hairtail.

2. Hairtail is a migratory fish. It will migrate for reproduction and overwintering in the nearshore and offshore areas according to water temperature and seasonal changes. Due to these characteristics, it cannot survive in very small ponds or smaller sea areas, and artificial breeding cannot currently provide such a migratory environment.

3. Hairtail is quite ferocious by nature and mainly feeds on krill. However, it is very greedy and sometimes eats its own kind, so it is very difficult to breed it artificially.

4. The production of hairtail is very large, so the price is relatively low. Hairtail can be bought everywhere in the vegetable market at a price of more than ten yuan per pound. Therefore, there is no need to invest huge manpower and material resources in artificial breeding.
