Since ancient times, pufferfish eaten in China have all lived in rivers. They are named pufferfish because they make a chirping sound similar to that of a pig when they are caught out of the water. Winter management of pufferfish: greenhouse construction

Wintering greenhouses should be built in places with convenient transportation, sufficient water sources and good water quality. The greenhouse should be low in terrain to facilitate the insulation and water retention of the wintering pool. It should be rectangular in shape and built facing north and south to ensure sufficient sunlight. The size of the wintering pool is generally 200 to 600 square meters. A windbreak wall can be built on the north slope of the wintering pool with corn stalks, reeds, etc. to block the invasion of the north wind and cold current in winter. The bottom of the pool can be made of three-in-one soil (lime, fine sand, clay) or a directly excavated mud pond bottom. The slope is disinfected with quicklime, and the slope ratio is 1:1.3. The greenhouse adopts an arch shape, with steel bars or bamboo as supports, covered with plastic film, and then covered with a layer of cattail curtains, fixed with wire, rope, etc., or covered with a layer of waste mesh to fix the plastic film. There is a wind door at each end of the shed to facilitate ventilation and cooling when the temperature is high. A heating boiler and a preheating boiler are set up on the south and north sides of the greenhouse, and heating pipes are laid at the bottom of the pool to prevent sudden drops in water temperature or excessive temperature differences in the incoming water. At the same time, a matching pool should be built and pipes should be arranged to facilitate water changes during the winter.

Winter management of pufferfish: cleaning

The wintering period of pufferfish is as long as 3 to 5 months. If there is a lot of dirt on the bottom of the pond and the water quality is poor during the wintering period, it is easy to cause fish diseases, which will have a serious impact on the wintering of pufferfish. Therefore, the wintering pond of pufferfish should be cleaned before wintering. First, the silt at the bottom of the pond should be cleaned, and then soaked and rinsed with a bleaching solution with a concentration of 20 mg/L after exposure to the sun. After disinfection for 3 days, the pond water can be drained and filled with water for use. If there are heating facilities, check whether the pipelines are unobstructed and whether the heating facilities can operate normally.

Winter management of pufferfish: water injection

The water used for pufferfish overwintering should be sand-filtered water or disinfected water, and all water indicators should meet the standards for fishery water. Fill the wintering pool with water 3 to 5 days before the pufferfish overwintering, and test the water before the fish enter the pool to prevent fish poisoning or unexpected forest signs. The salinity should be adjusted when filling the wintering pool, and its salinity should be slightly higher than that of the breeding pool.

Wintering management of pufferfish: intensive feeding

During the winter, pufferfish stop eating for a long time or eat less, which consumes a lot of energy and significantly reduces their physical fitness. Only when the fish are fat and healthy before wintering and have enough fat accumulated in the body can the survival rate of wintering be improved and wintering be smooth. Therefore, pufferfish should be fed more frequently before wintering, especially in the late stage of breeding when the water temperature drops and the food intake decreases, and feeding should not be stopped. Usually, pufferfish cultured in ponds eat less food at a water temperature of about 16 ℃, and they are not active in feeding. Most of them stop eating at about 12 ℃. However, a small number of them can still eat, and feeding cannot be stopped at this time. Feeding should still be done at regular times and fixed points until there is no food at all.

Wintering management of pufferfish: density

The wintering density of pufferfish should be determined by the specific species and size of the fish. The wintering density is generally 3.5-5 kg/m3. The specific density should be related to the species, size and the mastery of wintering technology. The wintering density can be appropriately increased with rich technical experience. For high-density production and large-scale wintering, pufferfish weighing about 50 grams can be 90 per cubic meter of water, pufferfish weighing about 100 grams can be 70 per cubic meter of water, pufferfish weighing about 200 grams can be 40 per cubic meter of water, and pufferfish weighing about 300 grams can be 25 per cubic meter of water.

Wintering management of pufferfish: size sorting

For pufferfish that are pulled into the pond for wintering, they should be sorted by body length or weight when the net is pulled into the pond. When sorting, fish of different ages should be separated first, and then different sizes of fish of the same age should be separated. As long as the wintering pond can be matched, the more uniform the size of the pufferfish during the winter, the better. The fish species of the current year can be divided into five size groups: more than 150 grams, 100-150 grams, 50-100 grams, 25-50 grams, and less than 25 grams. The fish species of the second year can be divided into three size groups: less than 200 grams, 200-350 grams, and more than 350 grams. The speed of sorting should be fast, and the transportation density of the sorted fish species should not be too large. The fish-water ratio should be 1:2-3.

Wintering management of pufferfish: body surface disinfection

Before hibernation, pufferfish should be disinfected by bathing in medicine to kill pathogens and parasites on the body surface. At the same time, individuals injured during netting, specification sorting and transportation operations before hibernation can be bathed in medicine to avoid bacterial infection of wounds, thereby preventing the occurrence of pufferfish disease. Usually, 10-20 mg/L potassium permanganate solution or 4% salt solution is used for aeration bathing for 10 minutes. Since the number of deaths in the early stage of hibernation accounts for almost 40% to 90% of the number of deaths during the entire hibernation period, body surface disinfection is of great significance.

Can puffer fish be eaten? Puffer fish is also known as squid, spicy fish, bubble fish, etc. It is a marine fish that usually lives near the coast and lays eggs in the fresh water of the coastal area and the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in April and May. It can be caught along the coast of my country and near the estuaries of some rivers. According to records, there are 18 types of puffer fish in my country, and the common types are tiger-striped puffer fish, worm-striped puffer fish, star-spotted puffer fish, striped puffer fish, etc. It is difficult to distinguish between them. Although puffer fish tastes delicious, some of its tissues are highly toxic, causing poisoning and death after eating. Moreover, the toxins of puffer fish are very stable and cannot be destroyed by salting, sun drying, cooking, etc. If it is mixed with other fish, it can also make the originally non-toxic fish infected with puffer fish toxins. Therefore, it is stipulated that the sale of puffer fish in the market is prohibited.

Pufferfish are not animals that hibernate, so they do not hibernate in winter.

Carp often spend the winter at the bottom of the river, with dozens or even hundreds of them gathering in a circle in a depression at the bottom of the water, heads pressed closely together, breathing sluggishly, gill cover movements very slowly, body temperature can drop to 1 degree Celsius, and they will not "revive" until spring.
