How many species of carp are there?

There are five species of carp:

1. Red Carp

The red carp has a spindle-shaped body, a round abdomen, large scales, a deeply forked tail fin, and is mostly orange-red or golden in color. It has a high ornamental value and is native to eastern Asia.

2. Fengli

Fengli is a hybrid carp, its parents are Xingguo red carp and scattered-scale mirror carp. It is named Fengli due to its high yield. It is blue-gray in color, has a sturdy body and grows fast.

3. Koi

Koi is an ornamental fish with a long lifespan, which can reach 70 years old. Its body length is about 1 meter. Koi has rich and varied colors, mostly white, golden yellow, orange-red, and has patterns on the surface.

4. Hibiscus carp

Hibiscus carp is a carp bred by artificial hybridization. It is gray-yellow in color, flat in shape, with a thick back, fine and compact scales all over its body, rich in color, and has ornamental value.

5. Carp

The purse carp is native to Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province. It is small in size, with a wide body, a high bulge on the back, a short caudal stalk, and two pairs of whiskers beside the mouth. Its entire body is orange, but its back is darker in color and its belly is white.
