Freshwater silver cod is called big head and big scale. Commonly known as round head and cone head, it belongs to the Cyprinidae and subfamily Cyprinidae, and can grow to about 40 cm. It is distributed in the inland river basins of Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkey, etc. The body is fusiform, with a short head, a slender body, and a normal tail fin. The back is silver-gray, the abdomen is silvery white, and the body is covered with large scales with strange glow. The mouth is sub-inferior, with a pair of snout barbels and maxillary barbels, a 2-chambered swim bladder, and the distance from the starting point of the dorsal fin to the snout tip is shorter than the distance to the base of the caudal fin.

There are two ecological types: upstream migratory type and landlocked type. The migratory species are mainly distributed in the southern Caspian Sea and the Aral Sea system, Uzbekistan's Chata, Iran and Turkey and other inland rivers. The length of the front fin of the big scales is greater than the length behind the dorsal fin. The length of the front dorsal fin of the short head spindle is less than the length behind the dorsal fin, and the head is relatively short.

The cod meat is tender, white and delicate, and has very few fishy smells. It does not have the usual fishy smell and has a special fragrance, so it is very similar to human taste. Many friends like to eat silver cod.

The maximum length of this fish is 105 cm and the maximum weight is 15 kg. It requires very high water quality and requires careful care in artificial breeding.
