1. Choose the water quality suitable for koi Generally, tap water is the most commonly used water for Koi breeding. Few people use river water, well water, or spring water to breed Koi. However, no matter what kind of water quality it is, it contains a certain amount of chlorine. Therefore, dechlorination is required before use. There are generally two methods: (1) Chemical dechlorination method: Add an appropriate amount of sodium thiosulfide into the water to react with chlorine to form harmless sodium salt. (2) Physical dechlorination method: Expose the water to the sun for two or three days, or continuously aerate the water to "drive away" the chlorine. 2. Meet water quality standards. The water for raising fish must be colorless, transparent and free of turbidity; the temperature should be between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius, and sudden changes in water temperature should be avoided as much as possible, and the difference should not exceed 2 degrees Celsius, otherwise it will directly endanger the health of koi; when the normal dissolved oxygen content reaches 5 to 7 mg/L, it is more in line with the conditions for koi breeding; koi are suitable for growing in weakly alkaline water, so the alkalinity of around 6 to 8.5 is normal; the ammonia and nitrogen content in the water should not exceed 0.1 mg/L, otherwise it will threaten the health of koi, and chemical substances such as ammonia and nitrogen are harmful to aquatic organisms, and excessive content will directly lead to the death of koi. 3. Bait and feeding In terms of the choice of bait, it is generally divided into natural bait (live bait: red worms, earthworms, mealworms, etc.) and artificial bait. When feeding, it is best to follow the "four principles": fixed time, fixed point, fixed quality, and fixed quantity, and develop good eating habits. 4. Feeding and management (1) Reasonable stocking density: Try not to exceed the water load and cause environmental pressure on the koi. (2) Daily management of koi: pay attention to the feeding of koi, observe the activities of koi, adjust and test the water quality. Pay attention to the feeding and management of koi. |
