1. Swimming crabs are marine animals, so the water quality requirement is salt water. Choose a place with sufficient water source and clean water without bacteria. It is best to have a relatively abundant variety of fish and shrimp, because it can provide enough natural food for swimming crabs. There should be a good drainage and irrigation system to facilitate water changes. Swimming crabs like to rest on the shore, so there should be enough open space around the pond for swimming crabs to rest, preferably a slope. Put an appropriate amount of fine sand at the bottom of the pond to satisfy the swimming crabs' hobby of diving in the sand. The pond water should not be too deep, about 4-6 meters. 2. Before stocking crab seedlings, drain all the water, clean the pond, and sprinkle quicklime throughout the pond for disinfection to eliminate the original bacteria and prevent crab seedlings from getting sick. Remove the silt at the bottom of the pond, but not too much, just a little. Then loosen the remaining silt and expose it to the sun for 3-5 days before stocking. Pay attention to setting up oxygenation, drainage and escape prevention facilities in the pond, and make all preparations. You can also put a certain number of empty bottles, water pipes, etc. in the pond to let them rest. Before stocking, apply an appropriate amount of fertilizer to the pond to cultivate sufficient zooplankton. The fertilizer should not be too much, otherwise the water quality will be too fertile and affect the growth of crabs. 3. After all preparations are done, start stocking crab seedlings. The crab seedlings stocked in the same pond should be of the same size. Different sizes will easily lead to large crabs bullying small ones, affecting the survival rate. The stocking density should not be too large. The stocking number per mu should not exceed 3,000, otherwise there will be crabs competing for food and fighting, which will affect the growth and survival of all crabs. But it should not be too sparse. Too little will reduce the vitality of the crabs and easily affect the water quality. Feed regularly, and the water temperature during stocking should not be lower than 20 degrees. The water temperature should be kept constant to effectively improve the survival rate. 4. In summer, you should always pay attention to the changes in water quality. You should change the water at least three times a week. The frequency of water change depends on the temperature changes in the stalls. The amount of water change needs to be determined according to the water quality and the growth of the crab. The eating habits of swimming crabs are very poor. You can feed them with fish, shrimp, shellfish and other animals at least twice a day. When the temperature drops to ten degrees in winter, you don’t need to feed them. Because the lower the temperature, the worse the appetite of swimming crabs. After the temperature drops below ten degrees, they will not eat at all. During breeding, you must patrol frequently, observe the water quality and growth, change the water and increase oxygen in time, and remove sick crabs in time for inspection and symptomatic treatment. |
