What is the fish?

The gillodon, also known as a ray fish, is considered a "living fossil" that has survived a long history, just like lungfish and coelacanths. It is classified as a bony fish, but it has the characteristics of cartilaginous fish, such as cartilage, spiral valves in the intestine, and a blowhole behind the eye.

The pectoral fins of finned fish have handles, which allow them to crawl underwater. They breathe with a lung-like swim bladder like lungfish, and their young have external gills. Since the fins do not have an axial skeleton, they are not lobe-finned fish, even though they have muscles attached to them.

The pelvic fin is short, and the anal fin is also short and close to the caudal fin; the caudal fin is round and symmetrical in appearance, and is an atypical spear-shaped caudal fin. The swim bladder is divided into two lobes, which are mostly separated and resemble lungs, and the front end opens on the ventral side of the esophagus. The heart has an arterial cone and a posterior great vein. There are degenerate spiral valves in the intestine. There is no cloaca.

Growth habit

It lives in warm shallow bays and swamps. It is very tolerant and can survive even in oxygen-deficient conditions. It is ferocious and adults mainly prey on fish.

The spawning period is from July to September. The eggs are attached to the water plants and develop. The parents have the habit of protecting the eggs and the young. The young fish have external gills. The dorsal and caudal fins are connected and are particularly tall. The dorsal fin is divided into many small fins. They feed on invertebrates. The pectoral fins have stalks, which can crawl on the bottom of the water. They use the developed lung-like swim bladder sac like lungfish to breathe.

This fish is distributed in shallow freshwater areas in central Africa and is also found in Hainan, my country.

The gyroichthys, also known as ray-finned fish, is a "living fossil" that has survived a long history. It is classified as a bony fish, but it has the characteristics of cartilaginous fish, such as cartilage, spiral valves in the intestine, and a blowhole behind the eye.

The pectoral fins of fin fish have stalks, which allow them to crawl underwater. They breathe with a developed lung-like swim bladder like lung fish, and their young have external gills. Since the fins do not have an axial skeleton, they are not lobe-finned fish, even though they have muscles attached to the fins. The body is elongated, nearly cylindrical, and slightly wide.

The dorsal fin is composed of 5 to 18 separate special finlets, each supported by a "fin scapula"; hard spines and one or more fin rays. The base of the pectoral fin has a well-developed fleshy leaf, which is covered with small scales, with a cartilage plate and two bone rays inside, and many "fin scapula" supporting the fin rays outside;

The anal fin is also short and close to the caudal fin; the caudal fin is round and symmetrical in appearance, and the swim bladder is divided into two lobes, which are mostly separated and resemble lungs.

It breathes with a lung-like swim bladder, which is as developed as that of lungfish. The front end opens to the ventral side of the esophagus. The heart has a cone arteriosum and a large posterior vein. The intestine has a degenerate spiral valve and no cloaca. It is distributed in shallow freshwater areas in central Africa. The genus Giraud is widely distributed in the Mekong River basin in southern China (Yunnan), Lao People's Democratic Republic, Chao Phraya River basin in Thailand, Java, Borneo, Sumatra, Brunei, Malay Peninsula and Vietnam.

Below is a picture of the Giraud fish

It is a fish produced near the Himalayas. It is three meters long and can weigh up to 68 kilograms or even heavier. It is the heaviest carp in the world.

Goldfish and carp are too ugly. Are there any cold-water fish that are as beautiful as tropical fish?

A common name for the subfamily Cyprinidae of the order Cypriniformes. It is a small freshwater fish, no larger than 180 mm; its body is oval or diamond-shaped; its head is short and its mouth is small; it has one pair of whiskers or none; its anal fin begins below the base of the dorsal fin, and its dorsal and anal fins are quite long, with or without hard spines; its pelvic fins are ventral; its tail is forked; its lateral line scales are complete or incomplete. It is mainly distributed in China, Korea and Japan in eastern Asia. There are about 5 genera and 21 species in China. It has a special breeding habit. During the reproductive period, female fish have an ovipositor, and the eggs are laid directly in the mussel body by the ovipositor, where they are fertilized and develop. The nuptial ornaments of male fish are obvious and the colors are particularly bright. It can be cultivated for viewing.

Sunfish

It is native to freshwater waters in the southern United States and northern Mexico, in the Americas and the South. The adult fish is 24-40 cm long. Most sunfish have exceptional colors, and the most eye-catching species among the beautiful sunfish species is this one called "Chang'e", which is shining with dazzling metallic blue and covered with orange spots. The dazzling and beautiful eyes have a pair of ear-like patterns at the rear end, which is their obvious mark. There are about 30 species in total, which are multi-spawning fish. They eat plankton, aquatic insects, aquatic plants, small fish and small mollusks.

Chinese fighting fish

It is a general term for the four species of Macropodus known in China and Southeast Asia, namely the red and blue forktail fighting fish, the Hong Kong black forktail fighting fish, the Vietnamese black forktail fighting fish and the round-tail fighting fish. Among them, the red and blue forktail fighting fish (Latin name Macropodus opercularis) is also called "common forktail fighting fish" or "Pucha" for short, because it is the most common species of forktail fighting fish. In different parts of China, it is also known as the covered spot fighting fish, paradise fish, bodhisattva fish, flower hand towel and other common names. At the same time, because it is the earliest and most common species of Chinese fighting fish, people sometimes directly call it "Chinese fighting fish", which has become the representative of Chinese fighting fish.

To be honest, most tropical fish are very easy to keep, and they are tougher and easier to keep than goldfish. Tropical fish are nothing more than an extra heater in winter. If you really like the color of tropical fish, you should keep tropical fish. I recommend you to keep larger ones, such as maps, crowns, parrots, silver dragons, knife fish, pencils, etc. They are very easy to keep and the temperature is kept at around 26 degrees! Or small ones include peacocks and zebras. They are basically very easy to keep at no more than 10 yuan each on the market! I suggest you go to the tropical fish bar and the ornamental fish bar to read the posts and learn! If you really want to talk about those cold-water fish with bright colors, I guess only marine fish are there. Freshwater fish that can live in cold water generally do not have bright colors. Maybe I am ignorant, but even if they really exist, they are very rare, let alone buying them to keep.

Goldfish are not ugly. The ones with the same body shape and appearance as tropical fish are grass goldfish.
