CATDOLL: Can silver carp reproduce on their own?

Yes. Silver carp is a pelagic fish of the tribe. Silver carp can also reproduce on their own. When they reach sexual maturity, they return to the river to spawn. After spawning, most individuals will feed and fatten in the shallow waters of rivers, lakes and reservoirs. When the water level of the lake drops in winter, they will return to the deep waters to hibernate. In the warm spring of the following year, they will go upstream to reproduce. Silver carp reaches sexual maturity at 4-5 years old, and male fish are at least 3 years old. The breeding season is from April to July. The spawning grounds are mostly in the riverbed. When the water level rises after rainfall and the water flow speeds up, they will reproduce.
