Why is the cat crying and has brown discharge?

Reasons why cats have discolored discharge:

1. When a cat gets a fever, it will shed tears and have brown secretions. If it is not cleaned, the secretions will turn red over time and even cause obvious tear marks on the cat.

2. If the food your cat eats is high in salt, it will cause it to shed tears and the amount of eye mucus will increase. Generally, this phenomenon can be alleviated by switching to food with less salt.

3. If a cat has conjunctivitis or its eyes are irritated by foreign objects, it may also cause it to shed tears. If it is left untreated for a long time, brown secretions will appear around the eyes, and the situation will become more serious.

How to deal with discolored discharge in cats:

1. Adjust the diet. Human food is too high in salt for cats, so do not feed them. Both cat food and canned cat food should be low in salt. The diet should still be light, and do not feed them some foods that cause heat.

2. If inflammation causes increased secretions in the cat's eyes, it will also cause the tear marks to worsen, and it is possible that they will even turn into dark brown tear marks. You should check the cat's eyes. If there is redness or swelling, you can use eye drops, 2-3 times a day, 1-2 drops each time, and keep using them.

3. Clean the tear stains of your cat regularly. If there are only tear stains and no other symptoms such as runny nose or sneezing, it may be due to blockage of the nasolacrimal duct.
