CATDOLL : What to do if your cat gets carsick

What to do if your cat gets carsick

Solutions for Cats' Motion Sickness

1. Fasting in advance. Fasting will help reduce nausea when the cat is traveling, and it can also reduce the need to use the toilet. For healthy cats, fasting can be 6-12 hours in advance. For cats in poor health, fasting may be dangerous, so if the cat is sick before traveling, the owner must consult a doctor before deciding to fast.

2. Use an airline box. In an unfamiliar environment, a relatively small hidden space will give the cat a sense of security and will be safer. Remember to put a thick blanket in the airline box to make the cat's journey as comfortable as possible. Training the cat to like the airline box will greatly facilitate the owner to take the cat to the doctor and travel.

3. Bring an old T-shirt or your cat's favorite blanket with you to soothe your cat. Try to keep the car cool and quiet.

4. A favorite toy of your cat. Keeping a favorite toy for your cat and only letting it play with you when you travel can help your cat establish a connection between travel and fun, making the cat's journey less boring and reducing the cat's stress on long-distance travel.

Symptoms of motion sickness in cats

1. Frequent licking of lips with a disgusted expression. Cats licking their lips is a common sign of excessive stress.

2. Vomiting. Just like humans, the stomach churns up and down, and it is very likely that one turn will cause you to vomit.

3. Constant meowing or howling is the most common trick used by cats. When they are unhappy or uncomfortable, they will howl loudly to ask to go home.

4. Drooling. Discomfort in the digestive system controlled by the parasympathetic nervous system can cause cats to drool.

5. Restlessness or weakness. It sounds contradictory, but cats who suffer from motion sickness may experience both of these symptoms.

6. Diarrhea is also a symptom caused by digestive system discomfort.
